Oxford University review

AB
7.5 /10

Admin is not really great, it is not very systematic. But otherwise you meet a lot of smart people. I never thought I would enjoy going for debates but we have many debates at the Oxford Union where esteemed speakers from around the world come to exchange thoughts and ideas. The formal dinners let you explore the different colleges across Oxford University. There is almost no medical help available unless it is fatal so carry medicines/bandages etc.

Course Curriculum :

curriculum is solely based on current research. we all have to conduct our own research throughout the course of the masters. no industrial exposure per se but a lot research exposure in different disciplines within psychology.

Exams :

If you have not done your undergraduate studies from a country where the primary spoken language is English then you need to take an english proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL). I did my undergrad from Boston University so I did not have to appear of any such exams. The main admission requirement is undergraduate honors (1st class or upper 2nd class), well-written SOP, research experience.. 1 SOP and 3 LORs (2 academic and 1 experience) are required. CV is also required. SOP should have professors you are interested in working with at Oxford along with details on your research experiences. Yes, there one round of interview after application with a board of professors that are familiar with your area of research. You need to present any of your research studies for 15 mins followed by 15 mins of questioning.

Placement :

Students usually go on to do PHDs or PsyDs.

Internship :

no

Fees :

INR 30 lakhs approximately

Scholarship :

nope

Faculty :

Exact student to faculty ratio metrics can be found on the website but we are only a batch of 19 students and have a lot of time with professors.

Campus Life :

There's a lot of formal dinners where you get a chance to network with people from other majors, countries etc. There are beautiful libraries and a lot to explore. And it doesn't hurt that harry potter was shot here! There are't any good on-campus gym facilities. Major sport teams would be rowing/punting.

Hostel :

living is expensive to opt for on-campus subsidized housing which would be around INR 60-90 thousand per month. Groceries and food is also expensive- maybe 10k a week (INR).
