Coventry University - Much affordable compared to other Universities

AS

As I was involving a key interest in the electric vehicle domain, this university was satisfying my requirements and involved a good reputation as it was recommended in terms of engineering by many renowned companies like JLR. It was near my relative's residence which made it a stronger point to go for this university as commuting was not so difficult. Also, the course fees were much more affordable in my case as compared to other universities which guaranteed my spot in that university.

Course Curriculum :

The practical aspects are covered in-depth without focusing much on theoretical knowledge. Compared to other countries, UK university offers a year course so you are in action as soon as you start with your academics. The course work is online and is submitted through an online portal called Moodle, which takes care of all the details regarding supervisors, timetables, upcoming projects, part-time jobs in university, upcoming events, and campaigns. The best part is that your work can’t be copied by others due to the plagiarism factor as your coursework goes through an algorithm that takes care of your copying factor and make sure that the percentage is not high otherwise you would be at risk. Two semesters are there which is followed by a project dissertation which gives you a chance to explore your innovative ideas by working on your interesting projects with the help of your project supervisor it’s altogether individual research that demands 80% research from your side.

Exams :

IELTS: 6.5 and extensive research would be better in order to grab courses according to your interest in the university selected. Apart from that, academic qualifications would be an asset for you as there are high chances of getting a scholarship depending on the university's policies. Additionally, a good financial account would really help to fasten your visa process and a good visa interview would surely book a place for you in your preferred university.

Placement :

For the bachelor program, they offer you a sandwich course which includes a placement year after your 3 years of course completion, which gives you an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and upgrade your skills. For masters, you are on your own and need to use your post-course permit time to take care of the job prospects which is quite achievable due to the new rule of 2 years post-grad work permit.

Internship :

I worked as a research intern at my university where I was employed to take care of a real-time project and I was getting paid for that. It involved an interview with that project supervisor and I was paid around 200£/week.

Events :

The ambience was quite extraordinary as new events were organised on a frequent basis. The infrastructure was eye-catching as the architecture of the building was quite old but the way it was preserved and maintained made me flabbergasted. As I was a student ambassador, representing my university while executing the campus tours to the new students and helping them to know the culture around, made me really happy as I was meeting with new faces and got to know about their culture. My university was well known for its research work. For instance, there was a real jet plane standing in the aeronautical lab, which made the students work on real-time projects and simultaneously helped them to undergo in-depth analysis. The same goes for the other branches. The 4-storey Library was the centre of attraction due to its design and the way all the materials and resources were placed, making the student's job easier to find any module academic paper. Apart from that, there was a sigma centre which was taking care of any mathematics course that students wish to go for. You could reach as well as study there. The wifi and computer networking were phenomenal as the processing speed was much more than my laptop. Also, there was a computer centre which was taking care of any fault arising in your laptop while connecting with the university portal. Through Moodle, you could access your work anywhere in the world. The sports facilities building was the new attraction as it was inaugurated by none other than Charles Prince and Kate Middleton so it was really special as it covered all the world-class facilities including gym, aerobics, Physiotherapy, badminton, swimming, table tennis etc.

Fees :

14000£ for one year (2000£ was deducted due to scholarship) Eventually, I paid 12000£.

Scholarship :

I got a scholarship of around 2000£ due to my good academic qualifications.

Faculty :

Faculty to student ratio: 1:10. I got complete support for my ideas and experimentation from our professors and project supervisor without any hassle. All the details and their meeting time are easily achievable through the online portal Moodle as mentioned above. Mr. Salman Abdi Jalebi (Master's and PhD from Cambridge University) really fostered me to go beyond my innovative ideas as the project on which I was working, required extensive and rigorous research, being a new topology, and it really made my way easier towards achieving the required results.

Hostel :

As I was living at my relative's residence so don’t know much about the accommodation but, being an ambassador, got frequent chances to show other students their accommodation which included every basic facility giving you a home-like feeling. As the campus as having 14 accommodations at different locations which were within walking distance from the university, the cost was mostly dependent on what kind of room you wanted to go for like single or double, and what services you want in that, just like a customized room.
