KTH Royal Institute of Technology is organized in five schools that offer 60+ UG and PG-level courses, all taught in English and open for international students. While the only available UG program is offered as a three-year BSc degree, KTH Royal Institute PG programs are majorly designed as per the two-year model.

In terms of the academic session, KTH adheres to the semester-based academic system with sessions beginning in the Autumn (August) and Spring (January) seasons. However, the admissions are conducted annually only, wherein applicants are required to submit their applications via Swedish Central University.

For international students, securing admission at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is moderately difficult. Presently, international students comprise 30% of the total student population (13,500) of KTH. If you are interested in studying at KTH, you need to have a minimum academic score of above 60% and an IELTS score of 6.5. Students with average grades but a strong statement of purpose are also given preference.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology Admission Deadlines

As mentioned, the academic sessions at KTH are divided into two semesters of 20 weeks. For UG courses, applications are invited in Round 1 and Round 2. Contrary to this, applications for all master's programs are accepted once only. The specific deadlines at KTH Royal Institute of Technology for UG and PG courses are tabulated below:

International applicants are recommended to apply for admission at KTH in Round 1 as applying Round 2 is too close to the commencement of the program. Thereby, not leaving enough time to apply and obtain Sweden resident permit. However, it is possible that final year high school students may not be able to apply for Round 1.

KTH Institute accepts applications from international students for all UG and PG programs. Along with fulfilling the academic requirements, students are required to provide proof of language proficiency, nationality, financial statements, etc.

English Proficiency Requirements for International Students

To be considered for admission at KTH Royal Institute of Technology international students must fulfill the minimum English language requirement. Students may complete this requirement by submitting the proof of upper secondary i.e. English 6.

Apart from that, prospective students may attempt an English proficiency test and complete the minimum scores established by the institute.

Sweden Visa Process for International Students

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss students seeking admission into full-time programs at KTH will have to obtain a student visa from Swedish Agency. The application is to be submitted 3 months before applying for a visa at KTH.

To get a visa students must submit the following documents:

Copy of the passport
Letter of acceptance
Financial Support details for the whole duration of the study
Proof of payment for a residence permit in Sweden
If the duration of stay is less than 1 year then a proof of health insurance is to be submitted as well
A copy of the insurance certificate

Note: The application can be made online and for early decision on the application students may also pay the first-month installation at the University

KTH Royal Institute of Technology Undergraduate Admissions

Presently, KTH is offering only one undergraduate program to prospective domestic and international students- BSc Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This undergraduate course corresponds to three years of full-time study and costs 366,000 SEK.

Interested in pursuing a master's program in Sweden? KTH Royal Institute of Technology offers 60 masters-level courses to prospective students; all taught in the English language only. Of these, 15 graduate courses are available in collaboration with other prominent universities.

My KTH Institute

Scholarship:

I didn?t had to pay tuition fees because I got scholarship from the Swedish government. So, everything was covered. I also got monthly installments from them of 10,000 Kronas. That was really good. It was really sufficient for my life as a student here.

KTH (Sweden) review

Overview:

The overall curriculum was interesting especially for my course in Vehicle Engineering, there were option to choose your own subjects during your master studies to widen your knowledge base, at the same time the formula student team was quiet interesting to work with to gain practical experience.
