Course Curriculum Overview :
The SRM curriculum is relevant and comprehensive with a strong focus on theory project and real world application. However more emphasis on current industry tools and interactive teaching methods could improve it. Exams are moderately challenging
Internships Opportunities :
SRM offers internships with firms like TCS, Infosys, Amazon, and Wipro, in roles like Software Developer, Analyst, and Data Scientist. Stipends range from ?10,000-?50,000. Projects focus on coding, data analysis, and tech solutions.
Placement Experience :
At SRM Institute of Science and Technology, students are eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Amazon, and Microsoft visit, with the highest package at ?50 LPA, average around ?6-8 LPA, and about 80% placement.
Fees and Financial Aid :
SRM Institue of science and technology offers a comprehensive fee structure that varies depending on the category of the student. For my batch the yearly fee is around 2.5 lakhs which include tuition fee, caution fee as for admission fee (its 10000Rs) development fee and lab charges. Intrestingly my junior who is in the same course but two years younger is paying 3.5 lakhs per year. This fee has been increasing over time indicating that future batches may face higher charges. As for scholarships SRM offers merit base and need based financial aids , including additional scholar for students who maintain 100% attandance and a cgpa over 9.5
Campus Life :
SRM’s campus life is vibrant with annual fests like Milan (Feb) and Aaruush (Sept). The library offers vast resources. Classrooms are tech-equipped. Sports, clubs, and student portals greatly enhance social engagement.
Admission :
I chose SRM for its strong reputation, good infrastructure, and focus on practical learning. I applied to other top institues like VIT, but SRM offered a better fee structure and campus life. Admission process consist of entrance exams in which you have to score over 60%
Faculty :
SRM Institue of Science and Technology offers a solid academic environment with a fairly good faculty to student ratio of 1:15 to 1:20. Most professors are approachable and supportive , though some maybeless engaging in large classes. The course structure includes core courses labs and projects with exam held each semester, The exams are moderately challenging but not impossible if you stay on top of the material
Night Life :
At SRM Institute of Science and Technology, campus life continues well into the evening, though with certain restrictions. The library typically closes by 8 PM, and gyms operate till around 9 PM, allowing students to unwind and keep active. Cafeterias within the campus offer food until about 10 PM, providing good options for late-night cravings. Hostels enforce a curfew, usually around 9:30-10 PM for girls and 10:30-11 PM for boys, ensuring safety while allowing time for socializing. Some popular student hangout spots within SRM include Nescafe Corner and the Food Court, which stays open relatively late, allowing friends to relax and chat. The campus has a few common areas like the Student Activity Center, where students meet for club activities or casual gatherings. Just outside campus, Bakeyard Café, Café Coffee Day, and Domino’s are popular with students and stay open till around 11 PM.
