Some goods and bads about DU

  • The infrastructure is not good. Old building and less hygiene are the things what I don't like
  • No placements and internships are offered in the college

Course Curriculum Overview :

The main reason to opt this course was my interest although it has other aspects also like if I have to prepare for competitive examinations and posts under the ministries of government ,like Minister of external affairs, then this course is the best. There should be some debates organised between students although there are presentations but I think debate should be there. The examination should be a little more difficult. Also the question asked are of full length which results in writing everything in exam to meet the required length, so there should be a different pattern having some short questions also.

Internships Opportunities :

I don't know much as no internships are offered in the college. Although there are some placements offered but only 3-4 students gets it. It is poor in terms of internships and placements. Also there is no focus on this issue by the authorities.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The year wise fee for my college is 11715 Rs. But some other DU colleges have higher fees upto 50000 or above. My yearly fees was approx 7500 Rs. but this year university has increased the fee. There is no other fee except the examination form fee which varies according to the courses i.e. from 1500-1700 Rs. Fee structure varies as Bcom course has approximately 14000 Rs as fee. Although there are some incentives in fee for those who cannot afford but there are no scholarships provided in my college.

Campus Life :

Students experience functions and events whole year as different departmental freshers then a complete freshers for all, Then events by students unions , Fest (in Oct-Nov) , farewell of different departments and then a combined farewell. Besides different departmental fest are also organised. Most of the books in Library are old edition and version. Although it has a huge Library with a large variety of books on different papers. There are special courses for sports and they are being promoted. There is a student union elected every year besides there are different cultural societies as well.

Admission :

I have applied for other colleges in DU as well and also other universities like B.R. Ambedkar But as this was the best found in Government or state universities so I choose this. I was also offers BR Ambedkar but I didn't like it well as it doesn't have any good colleges besides DU was better in terms of colleges, infrastructure, internships and faculty. The overall admission process is a long one. The admission is only through CUET (Common University Entrance Test). Cutoff didn't play any important role if anyone just want admission in DU but if you want the best college then you have to gain 700 at least (if from 800 , varies on subjects) After the exam candidates have to fill the preference.

Faculty :

Faculty to student ratio is very low. But the faculties are good and anyone can approach them anytime. When I was a fresher they personally helped me a lot. Almost all the faculties are good but some like Prof. Geeta Kaushik and Prof. B.S. Jha are the best. There way of teaching and types of questions they ask between makes the class interesting. There are no such faculty whom I don't like. Some are good and others are okay. Examination are not very tough. Infact they are easy as there is choice in whole paper. I haven't seen anyone who has failed the exam but some got backs in some papers but they clear it second time with ease

Other Applied Colleges

Satyawati College | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Political Science)

Because this is also a college under DU what I wanted so I opt for it

Course Curriculum Overview:

The IGNOU course curriculum is comprehensive and relevant, especially for distance and open learning. Studying with IGNOU course can help in clearing your basics as well as detailed understanding of the topics. It is useful in preperation of government exams as well. The exams are conducted each year or every 6 months for different types of courses so the time to study and prepare is enough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like my course because from the beginning I had to study Political Science under Bachelor of Arts. Also, this course is taught very well in the college but if some changes are made in it like language and selection of the right professor then it will be even better. Also, the exams in the college are held on time but the difficulty level is also different.

Remarks:

The environment of the college speaks for itself. The student body is one of its kind and the college management is satisfactory.

Admission:

The cut offs are generated after you have registered with DU. The process is a smooth process and less time consuming. Once your documents are verified you will be admitted to the college on that day itself. There is a gap of 45 days from the registration date to the date when the first cut off is released.

Placement Experience:

The job placements are very good at our College. Alumni batch of the college provides seminars for students every year in order to make children understand that why marks are less important than Knowledge. The exposure they provide to children so that they earn knowledge.

Our college had good staff members and very friendly and helpful alumni. the only exception is hostel facility due to which students have to struggle outside with cheap quality of food and residence. otherwise, everything is proper and suitable.
