- The academics stand tall over everything else. The college has a very learned & experienced teaching staff who all put in great efforts to teach the students.
Dislikes
- The college campus is an isolated area with little to no safety measures
- Students especially girls are rather restricted with hostel rules. Girls to boys ratio is 6:4
Course Curriculum Overview :
Since my course is training me to be an Indian Medical Graduate, there is obviously a heavy focus on the practical aspect of things. Starting from second year there are daily postings with different departments in the hospital which allows you to learn hands on.
Internships Opportunities :
The fifth year is internship year & is all about learning to survive in the tense conditions of the hospital. A postgraduate study is pursued after the internship ends. This is done via the NEET-PG exam to pursue specialisation in field of choice.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
My college is at the far end of the affordability scale as our yearly fees is ?17,00,000 with a 10% increment each year. The fees has to be paid for a total of 5 years. Along with this hostel fees is compulsory and has to be paid even if you decide not to stay in the hostel. The yearly hostel fees for a double sharing room is ?2,20,200. Along with that there is a compulsory yearly ?40,000 mess fees. This lands the total fees over the huge sum of ?1 crore. Admission in my college is through the NEET-UG exam only. A NRI quota is offered as per NMC guidelines with there fees being almost double. No financial aids are offered. Merit is based on NEET exam only. Fees is completely non-refundable.
Campus Life :
There are a lot of social clubs including dance, music, theatre, sports etc. Since ours is a whole university offering other courses as well, students get to interact across their own courses & take part together in various fests & competitions. A newly made "Skill Lab" Is a wonderful addition to the medical college facilities as it allows the students to practise real life situations on dummies to enhance their skills.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel fees & room is mandatory. The fees has to be paid even if yoi decide not to reside their. The hostel is at very close proximity to the college with barely a 2 minutes walking distance. The girls hostel has an in house mess which serves breakfast, lunch, evening snacks & dinner. The food is alright. We are served the basic Indian roti rice sabzi dal. The room is a double sharing room with washroom attached. The rooms have AC. The hostel fees is around ?2,20,200 & mess fees is ?40,000
Admission :
Admission to MBBS is through the NEET-UG exam, so my admission depended entirely on my score in the exam. I scored 345 marks. My college was the best shot for me. Since I live in Delhi this college was also closest to home & I could travel there from time to time. Other colleges I considered were also all private or deemed medical colleges. Amrita School of Medicine, Faridabad was one I considered but couldn't get in as they had a high cut off. The entire admission process is handled by NMC counselling & is an extensive & tiring process.
Faculty :
2-3 internal assessment exams take place. There is a weekly Saturday exam which also holds a place in the overall internal assessment marks. The main exam however is the year end final proff exam. Clearing this will get you promoted to the next year. There are 4 profs along with a final year of internship. The faculty is really good & even includes a lot of retired army officers. My personal favourites so far are Dr. Gurdev Goyal (physiology) & Dr. Vijay Nijahwan (Pathology)
