- The collage is a girls collage and despite the argument, as an alone girl living it Delhi it offers a bias free space to feel safe and comfortable. The societies like the dance society or music or theatre are firmly active making the environment fun.
- The psychology department is very well coordinated. The faculty is well trained and the teaching methods as well as research help is very effective and fun. Overall I love my professors and they are a good balance of strict and understanding.
Dislikes
- There is lack of technological infrastructure as well as lack of sports infrastructure. Adding to both and making it active would add to the collage environment and make it more lively and useful.
- The washroom conditions as well as the canteen need a good level of improvement. Both places are very important parts of a collage life. The water is also not clean and needs good improvement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is multidisciplinary focusing on a variety of papers adding to a variety of extra knowledge. Each course included a combination of discipline specific course, generic elective, skill enhancement course, value added course and ability enhancement course. In some courses there is lack of practicality in the curriculum but in my course that is psychology the introduction of writing research papers and conducting field researches adds to the course learning and the practical approaches.
Internships Opportunities :
There is not much that I know about the internship opportunities because as a psychology student, i have been doing private internships that I have found through platforms like LinkedIn and internshala.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The first year fees for BA Honours course was 13,000 and and in second year it increased to 14,000. There is a 100% scholarship for students that are below poverty line if they submit their legal documents like their EWS certificates and other provable documents. There is not much to know about placements but the internships rate is good in collage where they provide options to either volunteer for various social groups or intern for tied up companies in place of chiding a Skill Enhancement Courses.
Campus Life :
Mostly there are not much annual festivals. The biggest is the Annual Fest that is conducted around April every year. The fest has a good funding and is a good experience to have. The library is not as maintained as it should be and there is not much availability of the course related materiel. There is a need for redoing its infrastructure as well as for updating the readings and journals. The sports teams apart from cricket and handball are not active. The basketball course was demolished due to more requirement of land for the new building and it was never remade again. There is a need for better infrastructure in sports department. The student run groups and societies are very active and provide a fresh way to improve and enjoy the collage life along with experiences that can alter one's skill and enhance them in a more practical environment.
Admission :
I applied to a variety of collages that come under the University of Delhi and was alloted Lakshmibai College for women. I did not have a choice but to accept admission as my CUET scores weren't that high. I was rejected from the upper ranked colleges that had my preferred course (psychology) because I failed to clear the given CURT score cut off. The admission process for my colleges was based on the CUET examination and the scores that were obtained according to which the different cut offs for different courses were decided. The cut off for BA psychology honours for my collage went around 745/800 in the year 2023.
Faculty :
The faculty to student ratio is low. It is one professor on around 65 students. Despite that, it is manageable and the faculty is fairly approachable as long as it is not one of the HODs even then it is not as hard to approach them regarding doubts. The psychology faculty is very good. The professors are all well and highly educated and they never fail to pass their legacies on. There are two end semester examinations in one year. Apart from the main exams, there are Internal Assessments throughout the year and their scores add to the credit collections during the result calculations. There are 3 course specific disciplines (4 credit each), one general elective (4 credit), one skill enhancement course (2 credit), one ability enhancement course (2 credit) and one value added course (2 credit). The exams are of minimally tough level and with bare minimum preparation one can pass them. Despite that from each class around 3-4 students fail to clear them.
