Upes. Good choice or not?

Dislikes

  • Some professors can be really rude and don’t want to provide much information.
  • Administration does not listen to kids and only listen to teachers.

Course Curriculum Overview :

It is a fairly difficult course if uou are not interested in biology or chemistry. It is a really profound course on microbiology. The extra lab work you do for projects is really helpful in internships and further job opportunities.

Internships Opportunities :

I was provided internship at IISc. Bangalore, karnataka at the pollution control department which was a very good experience. It is mandatory to do a summer internship at an ngo provided by the college it is also a good experience if you are into social work.

Placement Experience :

I will go for competetive exam after this. But companies like labtron, og health care and omega do come with minimal packages like 180000-250000 which is really less for an msc degree. Highest packages go upto 650000-700000.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Upes is a college situated in dehradun. I am enrolled in the integrated (bsc-msc) programme microbiology but it is discontinued now, but you can still pursue bsc and msc seperately. There was a registration fees of 20000 upon admission and then it will be refunded. The total fees per semester is 90000-100000. The environment is good in college and you will find like minded people.

Campus Life :

There are sports events like spandan (sports fest), in which different sports competitions are held like cricket, football and badminton. There is also uurja the biggest festival of upes which is held once in four years. There are also many clubs like manoshakti (emotional well being club), SPE, FIPI, and falak. There is also hackathon for computer geeks.

Admission :

This was the only college I applied to as the admission criteria was 75% in 12th board and an interview which i knew I could clear. So i did not really apply to any other colleges as this was the perfect choice for me.

Faculty :

There are not many faculty members in the microbiology department, there are only 5-6 core subject teachers. One of the best teachers is dr. Snighdha and dr. Piyush they are really helpful and knowledgeable. There is a mid semester examination and an end semester examination in every semester. And there is also class tests for internal marks.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements in the seventh semester of their 4-year course. A wide variety of companies come to offer jobs and the average package is very good (around 20 lakhs). Almost all the students who sit in placements get placed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was good at Mathematics and that's why I decided for higher studies in Mathematics and after my Bachelor's degree, I chose a Master's in Mathematics. The faculty-student ratio in this course is 18 :1. This course doesn't have many permanent Faculties but they are highly qualified and have excellent knowledge of their subjects. Administration heirs guest Faculties also. The teaching methods of Faculties here are great they will take you to clear your concepts very easily. Each semester have two exams mid sem and end sem along with assignments and class tests Exams here are not much difficult to pass you can get good marks easily by regularly attending classes.

Positive remark is that this college is best in it's fees structure because it can afford by every division of the society.negative remarks is that providing results takes too much time ,but this is only for the odd semesters.even semesters get their results at the time because so many of them have to apply for jobs and all.

Entrance Preview:

HNBGU Entrance exam. I scored a total marks of 65 out of 100 and then was eligible for counselling. The reason to opt for this college was the latest course that was available only in this university(as told by our HOD). And we were also told that this university is the best one for pursuing Environmental Sciences Master degree.

Admission:

After the entrance exam, that took around in june, we got the result after a long wait of 2 months. The merit list was prepared and a date was provided for counselling. Please note that counselling takes 2 days. On first day, student have to submit the documents only and after that, a list id prepared on the basis of the students present on that day.
