My life in CSKHPKV

Dislikes

  • The sports facilities are below par and no focus on budding youth to push them to these fields.
  • There are cafes and eateries in the campus but very limited and do not offer much choice to students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is very diverse and only for the better of the students. The different subjects like horticulture, forestry, genetics, engineering, economics and many more help the students learn about differnt aspects of agriculture and make them professionally prepared.

Placement Experience :

The university placement cell is very inactive and students do not prefer to take jobs from there as the offers are very dull and low. Most of the students prefer to prepare for government job exams or pursue their higher studies after graduation. Only small companies come with vague offers and the average package is merely 300000 per annum

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The year wise fees of the degree is about 45000 but students opting for self financed seat have to pay an extra 80000 every year along with the fees. This fees includes all the charges like tuition fees, development fees, lab fees, etcetera. Students with category only see a difference of about 10-12 thousand a year. Scholarships are awarded to all ICAR nominated students and the top 10 merit based students which is about 10 to 15 thousand a year.

Campus Life :

The infrastructure is good but improvements are still on going as construction is taking place. The annual fest is called Agri night in which all students can showcase their talents through cultural programs in front of many important guests. Many other cultural and educational programs also take place regularly. Sports and athletics competitions organised by both university and students take place regularly.

Hostel Facilities :

The room is spacious and provided with a study desk and almirah and accomodates two students. The hostel mess is run by mess committee comprised of students who decide the mess menu and mess bill every month. The food is above average and consumable. To register for hostel, students must apply with the student welfare officer and usually hostels are cheaper than taking a room outside.

Admission :

The diverse curriculum and the fact that this was a professional course made me choose it, whereas many other colleges do not provide professional courses. I had appeared for the ICAR exam but now students have to apply for CUET to secure a seat. The counselling session takes place in 3 to 4 different rounds.

Faculty :

The faculty is good and knowledgeable but mostly students have to study on their own to prepare for exams. The faculty to student ratios varies in every department as some like agronomy have good staff but that of economics lacks faculty. There are many different subjects of different fields in the course curriculum and different students may find different subjects easy or challenging. The exams are semester wise and are conducted in two phases, internals and externals both constituting equal weightage.

Interview Experience :

I had appeared for the ICAR exam but now students are supposed to appear in the Cuet exam which is also a national level exam for students. After clearing the exam, students are to apply at the official university site where they will know of the dates of all the counselling rounds which are usually 3 to 4 If a student has prepared for NEET or JEE then these exams should not be very difficult

Placement Experience:

For last year students the campus will provide the placement program. The company visited are Gharda Chemicals, Mother Dairy and the offers are depend upon their vacanies ehich changing yearly. The highest package that I know is 35000 per month and its depend upon company to company. Percentage of student getting placed from university is very less it approximately about 2 to 5% My plans after the degree to pursue master program.

Placement Experience:

The college has a placement cell but the students are not interested in college placements as the packages offered by companies that come for college placements are very low par. Othe career opportunities like a government job, administration, banking a specialised MBA in agriculture, or pursuing masters are more luring for the students as they provide better opportunities bothe financially and also in terms of personal growth.

Remarks:

The overall grading of university is fine. Being a government university it has some issues and problems also but as we see the all-over progress , the university is doing well in it's own place and there is also good ranking of university as compared to all other universities and it is the only one university of horticulture and forestry in state collaborated with ICAR.

Entrance Preview:

UHF combined entrance examination for horticulture and forestry streams. The merit of entrance examination is the sole criteria for selection at that time. It is the best institute.

Admission:

I gave entrance test. My streams are PCM with 50% marks in 10+2. Got a rank in entrance examination and got admitted in college of Horticulture. After B.Sc. Horticulture, gave entrance of MBA agribusiness and got the rank there.
