- Talking about the things I liked in my college, the first thing is the surroundings and the sky. This college is very much eco friendly and less polluted.
- Almost all the facilities like bank, post office, shops, canteens and hotels etc are available inside the university itself. Also the library of our university is also good. The syllubus of our course is more of competitive exams oriented.
Dislikes
- Some of the faculties are lazy in taking class, hence fails to cover the whole syllubus.Excluding the placement which are suggested by our faculties, placement cells are not that active.
- There is a lack of hygiene and maintenance in our department's washroom and also the quality of mess food decreases day by day.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The syllabus of our course is very good. It is mainly gate/net/jam-oriented. I was influenced by my interest in this subject(geology) and the syllabus. According to my opinion, More presentations and projects can be included in our curriculum, as this curriculum mainly gives importance to written/essay exams. Almost 75% of marks are given through exams..that should be avoided and also MCQs should be given instead of essay questions for a better understanding of the subject and practice for the competitive exams
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Generally, there is a hike in fee structure when compared to the last years. Academic fees can be tolerated but the increase in mess fees and hostel fees are unaffordable for the students. For the 2 years (MSc), the Academic fee is 41,200 rs ie 21100 for 1st year and 20100 for 2nd year. Scholarships are provided by the university, both central and state scholarships. Natives and SC/ST or EWS caste avail more benefits from scholarships. Some of the scholarships such as Egrantz provide around 13000 per annum for the applicants.
Campus Life :
The overall experience of my campus life is Good. Self study is more important than class study here. An annual fest is held during the month of April which is called Ankur fest. It is a school-wide fest. Both sports and cultural activities are included in this fest. The library has many books and journals. An online library is also provided and is accessible on many websites like Springerlink, Willey, etc. But more number of competitive exam books needs to be added and more accessibility in journals. Sports are encouraged but not that many students union is there on this campus.
Hostel Facilities :
Given Hostel facilities are very good. Rooms are good,4 people in 1 room. Both bunkers and single coats are available for the room. A cupboard, study table and chair are provided for each student. Meal quality is very bad and they often increase fees. For the registration process, one must contact the DSW(Dean of Student Welfare) office.PG is difficult here as it is far from the city. The locality's name is Kadaganchi
Admission :
The Admission is via an all-India entrance exam called the Central University Common Eligibility test. Almost more than 150 marks are needed to get admission to most of the central universities. Our Admission process was very smooth. Admission was informed by our HOD through call and mail. We have to pay fees for taking admission within the required time. The difficulty level for the exam is medium. One should have good knowledge about the base of the subject which is taken for PG.
Faculty :
There are 9 facilities in our department, including 7 permanent faculties and 2 contractual faculties. There are 5 batches in our department, almost around 250 students..The main thing is that one faculty will take more than 1 subject, which is not even their specialization or they will not have deep knowledge in that subject. So that will affect students. I mean faculties with their own specialization or area of interest are needed for each and every subject. Some of the faculties in our department are very good, having deep knowledge and understanding about the subjects but some show no interest in teaching, covering the syllabus and all(1 or 2). Teachers are very much interactive and approachable, which clears doubts. But are less interested in promoting sports and extracurricular activities.
