  • MCC is around 200 years old and the buildings are old too. Infrastructure can be improved.
  • The Hall system rather than hostels for both boys and girls are not good.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is drafted really well and this is one of the major pros for the department in being one of the flagship departments of Madras Christian College followed by the department of Commerce. The curriculum drafted based on the contemporary times and dynamic business environment has influenced most of us in choosing BBA at Madras Christian College. There are subjects like Contemporary perspective of management where they teach is about placement, drafting a Curriculum vitae, group discussion, mock interviews and so on. There are subjects like Skill development for management studies which helps us to prepare ourselves for CAT and other MBA programs. Rather than this there are courses in varies domains like marketing, finance, productiom, HR, data analytics and so on.

Internships Opportunities :

There are paid internships within the college in various departments and fields like in library, Students records office, scrub society, MCC farm and so on. They are paid based the duration of work and days worked. There is a B-school called MCC Boyd Tandon school of business, which also provides paid internships for MCCians. Apart from this for BBA it is mandatory to do internship in final year and submit project work.

Placement Experience :

There is a very nice placement cell offering placements for almost all departments with a good package. Talking about BBA, firms like TCS, Barclays, BNY MELON, Accenture, Deloitte, Neilson IQ and so many other top tier companies sit for the interview. We have an aptitude round followed by group discussion and interview. Almost more than 100 out of 150 get placed during campus placement. Average package is around 4-6 LPA and the highest has been 9LPA for BBA recently.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Tuition fee is approximately around 40,000 in the odd semester and around 25,000 in the even semester. It comes around 1,75,000 overall including all management fee, tuition fee, lab, library etc.., There are so many scholarships available based on the category, marks, community, income level etc., Campus placement is available and so many top tier companies like Infosys, Deloitte, TCS, Neilson IQ, Accenture, Verizon, Barclays, BNY Melon and Goldman Sachs do sit during placements.

Campus Life :

There are so many extra curricular activities at MCC and also in the department. At MCC, we have so many groups like Scrub Society, NCC and NSS. There are wide opportunities in sports. Frequent matches take place inter hall and inter departmental and even inter college. College auditions and other cultural events and deepwoods ( Asia's first annual day) do take place. Within the department, there are so many clubs like quiz club, debate club, magna theatre and many more.

Hostel Facilities :

MCC follows hall system rather than hostel system. There are three halls for girls ( Martin, Margaret and Barnes ) and three halls for boys ( selaiyur, St. thomas, Bishop Heber ). In girls hall, 3 students stay in a room and in boys hall 1 student stay in a room. Food is good but it is a bit costlier than staying in a PG. The halls offer a great opportunity to explore the talents, participate in programs, sports and other cultural events like rap, ethnic walk, dancing, music, singing, poetry etc. It might sometimes be a burden too for students who completely want to focus on studies.

Admission :

Admission is purely based on the marks scored in class 12 and there are special preferences and reservations for Christians, Scheduled Castes and so on based on government rules and regulations. There are no entrance examination for Undergraduation.

Faculty :

The teacher student ratio at MCC varies according to the departments. Talking about the department of Business administration, it is available only in Self financed stream ( Evening shift ) and each batch has around 150 students divided into two sections. Each section has around 70 students and there are almost 11 faculties in the department. As of now there is no MBA in the department but MCC has a B - School called MCC Boyd Tandon school of business which offers MBA. Faculties are very approachable and friendly. But could work on the quality a little more. Faculties for finance are always in shortage and few temporary faculties are not up to the mark. Talking about the teaching methods, few teachers blindly go with reading out the Posts but there are few faculties who are expertised in their fields. The syllabus is really amazing matching the contemporary standards in today's business world.

Placement Experience:

At 3rd-year students become eligible for placements on campus where many MNCs and cooperatives come to hire us. The offers made to me were 7 but I wasn't very keen on any. I personally visited 3 and got selected by one. The package offered was high for a freshman and high incentives and training programs were delivered. packages start from lakhs annually .they often have a holistic approach to deliver placement and percentage marks to a certain amount depending on the level and firm you're looking for. My personal plans include running my father's export and retail business and help in the management of the company

Placement Experience:

The only disappointing factor in this college is that there is no campus interview. But on the other hand, as it is an art and science college most of the students prefer to do their post-graduation. So campus placement might not be a big problem. If at all students prefer to go for a job, the faculty is so good and friendly and help them to get to know about vacancies and interviews.

Remarks:

One of the negative thing about the college is that sports. The college only focus on a adamics. We must have a college team. And we also want to play with the other teams. This is the only negative comment we have
