Magic in Miranda

  • Morning 8 a.m. classes which usually get cancelled like 10-15 minutes before, while half the students are on their way to college.
  • Honestly, there is not much to dislike about Miranda. It's the most beautiful place you can ever be in.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I have been a lover of English as long as I can imagine. Being in Miranda only brings me closer to my beloved, as each one of my professors only seem to strengthen my affection of the language and for the literature it offers. It teaches you in abundance about how the world used to work and how it works today. One who studies english shall never ever fail to navigate their way through life. Considering the examination, if you have it in you to look at things beyond their exterior, you'll ace this subject. Though, I must state that being a subject course, it takes a little more than "one to two days before exam studies" to score a CGPA higher than 8.

Internships Opportunities :

We were offered internships by our college, we were also given letters of recommendations by it too. The college also provides internships and jobs through its placement cell, which is a society run by students themselves.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Students are expected to pay the fees on a yearly basis and being a government institution, the fees of English honours in Miranda is about 12-13000, which is to be paid in one installment at the beginning of every year. I think it's the most convenient sum. Talking about scholarships, the college offers multiple scholarships from time to time. It also offers scholarships to students from certain parts of India for their admission.

Campus Life :

I am an active member of the Western dance society of Miranda, i also have a CGPA of 7.9 this semester. So my basic advice here is, IF YOU WANT TO, YOU CAN. If you want to do both you can easily do both, you just need to be driven enough. The society culture is wonderful in DU, you will get to interact with extremely talented students from all over the university. And the fests? The fest season is the absolute best!

Admission :

The admission process is pretty convenient as most of it is done online so you don't really have to travel. You will need to give the CUET exam for the entrance and then enroll at DU's CSAS portal. Reservation benefits are available but I don't know to what extent they work as I, myself had scored good enough to get into Miranda without it. Exams happen on a semester basis, which makes it quite easy, honestly.

Faculty :

One of the best things about Miranda would be, it's faculty. Treating teaching not as a profession but as a passion, the teachers here tend to take up the job of being a mentor very seriously. The relationship between faculty and students is mostly healthy as they do not happen to be prone to favoritism and hardly judge any student based on small things.

Placement Experience:

Sri Venkateswara College provides placements for Science and Commerce Students, not for BA Students. The college has a good record in the placement cell. I am an Arts student so I don't have any placement. So I choose UPSC as my career option. I will try until I succeed.

Placement cells do not provide placements to English graduates. Only a few companies came to hire English graduates. I'm planning to do a master's or B.Ed to secure a career in teaching after my graduation.

6th-semester students are eligible to apply for campus placements. Companies like Bains and Co., KPMG, etc visit our college. Some are known and some unknown. I did not participate in campus placements as I decided to go for higher studies.

Remarks:

The college is good and faculty teacher is very helpful and the canteen is great. The playground is very big and clean. College has many societies. Admission process is merit based and first cum basis.

Admission:

No, because my admission merit based and my performance and sc quota so I can't face any group discussion, interview, or written tests. My result calculation is sufficient to get admission.

Remarks:

The college is excellent when it comes to academic excellence though it lacks a bit in infrastructure and placements.

Admission:

After giving my 12th class board exams I was looking at potential places to do my graduation from and Delhi University and Jamia millia islamia were on the top of my list due to their reputation and excellent national rankings. I ended up choosing jamia because it had the reputation for being very academics oriented and having a sincere student body. The fact that jamia has an entrance exam was also a draw for me as it ensured my peers were selected on the basis of stiff competition ensuring I got the best environment to pursue my academics.Jamia conducts its entrance exam around june-july with admissions taking place in august. The admission process is pretty straightforward and most of the process such as registration and payment of fees is online. The final registration is done in person in the university itself. Original documents such as 10th and 12th marksheets are required as well as character certificate and school leaving certificate. The list of required documents is available on the university website.

Our college has JEET placement Cell. JEET provides weekly updates on new internships. There are too many opportunities. However my course, Psychology doesn't have placement opportunities as such as Psychology is a complex field that has yet to be Specified in Masters.
