Life in Chitkara University

Dislikes

  • The teaching staff in 1st, 2nd year don't have indepth knowledge about their subjects so you have study yourself to get good marks
  • The crowd here is more on the chilling side and only few people here are actually serious about there career and are focused.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I had interest in coding as i already had background in python and front end languages so i chose cse. For the 1st year the curriculum is very bad and very outdated we had to learn about resistors and electrical stuff which doesn't really have any relevance in modern coding and A.I, also the python they taught was very basic and didnt prepare us for real world applications. The exams were relatively easy and were consistent throughout the semesters.

Internships Opportunities :

There's a company called fintech which offers lot of paid intership oppurtunies in chitkara which is a startup and takes in front end devs and offer around 30k per month and can be converted into a full time job if you work hard enough and they offer around 10 lpa package for job.

Placement Experience :

1) After 3 year lot of students start getting placed in companies that come to college 2) companies visited in 2024 are wipro, Tcl, infosys, Amazon and number of offers were around 1000. 3) Highest package was 38 LPA and average was 8.5 lpa

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees is very regular and isn't as high as other colleges of the same level like cu and lpu, its 1 Lac per semester, so you'd complete your degree under 11 lacs approx adding other fees like bus, uniform. I dont know about any scholarship opportunities in the college as such but i heard there are some for toppers

Campus Life :

Festivals in this college are very rare they barely happen But they are a lot of extracurricular activities like photography, bhangra, western dance, theatre for acting artists, gidda, etc... They are a LOT of books in the library almost any sort of educational book you would need should be there but the library is almost full all the time. All the types of sports are there.

Admission :

There are two ways for entering chitkara University 1) Through board marks - There are no fixed amount of marks you need to have its just that preference is giving to students with higher marks while giving seats so you should have 70% minimum and you will get in easy. 2)Through jee marks - jee marks are given 2nd preference after board marks so you gotta have 60% percentile atleast. Taking admission in this college is very easy.

Faculty :

1) Faculty to student ratio is very low which makes it harder to get necessary attention. 2) Some of the faculty have very outdated knowledge about their subjects and can't get into depth of the topic while few young teachers have that and can give you good mentorship. 3) Most teachers are open to connect outside of the classes but the quality of teaching isn't up to the mark so doubts may not be solved.

I think those who really deserve to get the good placement, even this year when everyone is talking about the recession LPU's students got placement of 52lpa, 39lpa, and much more, and yes if the student will increase and the job seats will not then there will be an increase in unemployability

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was doing bachelor of Technology in computer science. Starting from the classroom to the computer labs , everything is available and well maintained. You learn programming and languages with the help of faculty and for every student there is computer available with all equipments. In a week, there are 3 days of computer lab practice and 3 days for classwork. The professor tests and skills very often and if there is any inefficiency , he/she will help you to correct it. The curriculum at Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering and Technology is thoughtfully designed to provide a comprehensive education that balances theoretical foundations with practical applications. The courses are continually updated to reflect the latest advancements in technology and industry trends, ensuring that students receive a modern and relevant education. Each program offers a well-rounded mix of core subjects, electives, and hands-on projects that allow students to tailor their learning experiences to

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as I was passionate about coding from my 10th class and technology always fascinates me. In our class, total students were 70 which was same for most of the sections. Some faculty members of my college were good while most of them were tolerable. Most of them had masters degree and some had done PhD. They were focused mostly on the curricullum designed by the university and completed syllabus within the timeline. Our college had separate marks for attendance and any student with below 75 attendance will not be able to give end term exams except for some medical condition. We had CAs (class assement exams), mid term exams and end term exams. The CAs are little bit higher level as that of mid and end terms exams. Overall exams are moderate to higher and someone who had studied the syllabus topics and followed the faculty members will easy pass the exam.

Placement Experience:

Placement of cse is very good with respect to other branches. Almost 70–80% of eligible students(having cgpa more than 6.67) get placed in different mnc’s. 1.package less than 4 lacs 80% of placed students get package of less than 4 lacs in companies like cognizant, tcs, techmahindra etc. 2.package in between 4–7 lacs 15% of placed students falls in this category, they get companies like bosch, yodlee, hitachi etc. 3.package of approx 15 lacs Remaining 5% students get placement in amazon(package 16 lpa) which visit lpu every year.
