College Review - PEC Chandigarh

Dislikes

  • The place as a whole is very expensive and therefore accommodation outside can be difficult.
  • The other small things like some faculties and a not very rich social circle because almost 50% students are from Chandigarh quota.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum has improved from our 23 batch the inclusion of things like communication and environmental studies for climate change has incorporated social and professional responsibilities on us. The exam occurs often and weekly is the best bet after 2 months of preparation. The end semester exams have higher weightage though it is not true in every subject.

Internships Opportunities :

Their is a 6 month internship period offered by the college to the students whose internships are finalized by the associated companies. The stipend is good. The Average stipend for circuital students are about 42000 per month and about 32000 for non-circuital per month

Placement Experience :

The placements of the college are very good even in the very disturbed job market. The number of companies were about 200 and visited were Amex, JP Morgan, Goldmann Sachs, Deloitte, p&g, Microsoft, Google, Infosys, HCl are the popular ones.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The current fees structure of 4 years is 753000 but it will increase slightly due to inflation. The mess fees will be roughly about 20000 per semester and hostel fees will be 81500 per yr. There are scholarship available for BPL category and sc/st quota students. With full tuition fees exemption.

Campus Life :

There are many clubs in Pec some popular ones are pec-acm , Saasc , EIC are the popular clubs. EIC is the entrepreneurship and incubation cell of pec Chandigarh. There are many sports clubs and many stadiums for recreational sports activities.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facilities is somewhat average considering the fees, The mess is making good food only when pressure is applied by the student body and the rotis are just terrible. The registration form will be distributed on the day of your joining by visiting the Shivalik hostel.

Admission :

Gave JEE and sat for councelling rounds for josaa and csab and got the provisional seat allotment letter from there after that I went to college on the specified date and did my physical verification for addmission. The application will be found at pec.ac.in website for further details of the forms and extra documents which are required.

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratio is 1:12 for this college. The faculty has credentials but the attitude to teach is a little lacking. Mentoring by teachers was done in my case I got a very lovely teacher as my mentor to talk about anything about me or my personal life or any hardships I am facing at college.

Placement Experience:

College placements are average. Many companies visit campus for providing placements offers and internship. Due to more students all can not get placement offers. But if student is good in study he/she can get placement offers easily.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would good ratings to the curriculum and academic syllabus provided to us does match the need of the student for further competitions and in future interviews they enhance the soft skills and communication skills of a student for the interviews and this syllabus of the subjects like maths physics etc does match the compatitive level and the level which a student of today's generation should be taught

I am in 1st year so I don't know about this quite well. But I think Chandigarh University provides us with a good opportunity for placement and the average placement is quite good. I think you will be able to set in for an interview if you are a 2nd year.

There are many companies coming for campus placements, including big-tech companies like Microsoft and Google. But, remember that Google only comes to hire call centre guys, not Software Engineers, which is what people end up assuming.
