- COEP is one of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia. As it is the third oldest is Asia and second oldest in India after IIT Rouraki.
- There are many clubs are present in my college in total about more than 52 clubs are there. So if you wanna try luck in other than enginnering, it's the best place for you.
Dislikes
- The college hostel is some kinda old. The buildings are good but hostel management is worse.
- In college, the professors and teachers mostly focus on your grades. The exams are difficult here. So you have to work hard to get your grades.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course and curriculum in college is quite industry oriented. In the first year, you have all the subjects that are present in all the enginnering colleges but from the second year, you have courses from industry you wanted to work in or you are opted to. And each of these courses, you have to make real life projects so that you can gain the technical knowledge and you will be prepared for industry.
Internships Opportunities :
You are eligible for internships at the start of the fifth semester. The internships are offered on campus by various companies which came for the campus placements. And all these internships are the paid internships. And the stipend of the internships is quite good also.
Placement Experience :
The placements in my college are quite good. At the start of the 7th semester you become eligible for the placements. But at the start of 5th semester you become eligible for the internships. More than 200 companies visited colleges for placements this year. The highest package is about 54 lpa and average is about 8 lpa. More than 70 percent students get placed. And my plans are probably to take a placement after the college. Or in some cases higher education.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
At the time of my admission, the fees are quite reliable or less. But last year, when my college became an university, there is hike in the tution fees and the hostel fees. The complete cost of my education would be around 5 lakhs most. But there are various scholarships given by the college itself like alumni association scholarship and many more. And some scholarships are given by corporate companies itself.
Campus Life :
There are 4 flagship events of the college. Impressions as a cultural fest, Mindspark as the technical fest, Zest as the sports event and the PSF as the startup fest. There re also Regatta the 97 year old event of the boat club. The college is rich in terms of this fests. The library of college is quite big and everyone can access it . It is open in college timings. But for study you can access it till 12am. The class is furnished with all the facilities present in the modern classrooms. The extra curricular activities in colleges are great. There are more than 52 clubs are present in the college. And besides this 52 clubs there are sports clubs are present.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities are medium in range. They provide you room with bunk beds and table and cupboard present in walls. There are 4 students in each room. The meal in mess is not quite so good. But it better than many other colleges and the menu have variety of types of meals. The hostel is alloted based on the merit. So each year you have to score good CGPA. And the hostel fees are too less as compared to rentals outside.
Admission :
For applying to this college, you must have given mhtcet or the jee mains exam. I have got admission through the mhtcet. And cutoff was above the 99 percentile for the electronics. The cutoff of college is quite high as it is one of the top colleges in Maharashtra. In the mhtcet there are reservations as given by the mhtcet. You can refer mhtcet for the more information
Faculty :
The faculties in the college are bothe good and bad. It depends upon the which faculty you are interacting with. The qualification of the faculties is quite great. But some of these faculties are not good in teaching terms but if you want to take advice from them, they are the best. If you wanna do some kinda research or stuff, you can definitely ask help from them and they are welcoming it. The faculty to student ratio is quite large. For each subject out, there are at least 3 to 4 faculties present. And if you wanna interact with faculties you can anytime you want.
