- The Beautiful and clean campus located in the lap of mountains.
- The ease and convenience of having everything necessary things available either in the campus or nearby campus.
Dislikes
- The lack of teachers domain expertise in some courses, as some of them are just post graduate or a research scholar.
- Most of the teachers lack a proper research background.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The overall course curriculum is really good, it includes various aspects of the business that is really required, but still it lacks various practical sides of it that is required too. I am not sure if these courses prepared us fully for the real world applications as I already mentioned it lack some important practical approach to the business career. Improving the course curriculum include incorporating few more practical approach to the program like more workshops and seminars, ideas pitching, less theoretical lectures, etc. Improving teaching methods include using more case studies, research papers, articles, recent news, etc in the class. Right now we have three exams a semester, term 1, mid term and a final exam at the intervals of one month, so I think it's perfect according to the syllabus and the exam pattern.
Internships Opportunities :
I have not applied for any internship here but I regularly got message and have been encouraged to participate in an internship available in the university itself and outside the university in local companies. The stipend amount is like thousands a month.
Placement Experience :
In the final year, students become eligible for the placement, however they are encouraged to apply for internships throughout the program years. Not sure about the exact metrics of the offers made but various companies visit each year, some of the big companies like KPMG also visit. Highest package for BBA is 10 lakhs while for MBA it is 18 lakhs. A very few students from the university get placed, most of them get the rejection due to poor academic performance and interview. I plan to pursue MBA abroad and then PhD. I don't plan to take any support from the university in this regard.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tution fee increases every year by around 4-5 thousands. The complete cost my education, tuition, service and other compulsory charges are around one lakhs and fifteen thousands a year. Not sure about the names but scholarships are available based on the location (H.P., Non-H.P), previous grades, the caste and disabilities. So far I have not taken any campus employment, but for students, internships are available and university also offers some paid positions in the department for some minor roles.
Campus Life :
One of the major fests in Shoolini is MOKSH which is held in the month of March. It's a festival which takes place for 3-4 days. Apart from MOKSH, there are various other fests and events keep going on throughout the year, including sports premier league. There are limited number of books and journals available in the library, accessibility is also poor in terms of searching for a particular book. The technology and facilities in the classroom is not up to mark. It lacks a digital screen, rather it has projectors, it also lacks air conditioning, proper desks, etc. Various indoor and outdoor sports are available in the campus throughout the year. There are various clubs also to be the part of. There is a university portal and a university owned digital learning platform which really makes all the study materials accessible.
Hostel Facilities :
There are 4 types of rooms available here. First thry are based on the beds like two seater, three seater Aya four seater. The fourth one is also a two seater with a private bathroom and a room heater. The overall menu and food quality is really good. Registration process is easy and simple, but affording the hostel is on quite expensive side. I'm living in the hostel only, and most of the things like groceries, cosmetics and other essentials are easily available.
Admission :
The eligibility for the course is 60% in 12th. They also conduct their own exam, but it's quite easy to crack with no preparation at all. Application form can be easily found out at the university page, application fees is around 2 thousands for domestic students, and the admission usually begins 3-4 months before the beginning of the session. I didn't avail any reservation benefits so, I am not really sure about it. Not sure about the frequency, as you can give it anytime after you apply for admission. it's such a basic exam to attempt. Improvement in the admission process includes a little more Complex exam and personal interviews would be great.
Faculty :
Teachers are not well qualified; in my department, most of them are very young just post graduate or a research scholar. Only 2-3% of them have at least a doctorate, that too not from a very reputed university. Many of those teachers just teach the class by reading out the ppt, only a few really understands the subject and teach well. All of them are quite approachable but not all of them are very helpful. Interacting with teachers here are very rare, other than the attendance issue, for some of the courses. They couldn't really helpful towards the research field, as they lack that knowledge themselves.
