- There are many clubs in nirma university including technical as well as non- technical clubs. They carry out a lot of events and activities throughout the year. These activities provide a lot of oportunities for us to improve our skills.
Dislikes
- The campus has a lot of dogs which is at times quite disturbing and not very approving.
- The food is not as good as described by everybody and one pf the canteen known as law xanteen is very costly, other two canteens open late and close early.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Our courses are specially designed by our main faculties of the specific course. The course covers all the main topics in detail and even other topics at a basic level. These courses prepare us for our core subjects and even other subsequent subjects. All the courses include lab sessions or tutorial sessions, which help us to gain practical knowledge and prepare us for the real world. Exams are taken in 3 phases - class tests, sessional, and final exams. The class test is of 20 marks and is conducted for 40 mins, the sessional exam is 0f 50 marks and is conducted for 2 hrs and the final paper is of 100 marks and is conducted for 3 hours.
Internships Opportunities :
Our college provides internship opportunities to all those who are interested. You can apply for internship after compl8of your 3rd year as well as after the completion of your 2nd year. Many large companies like Tata, Schneider, reliance and google provide internship opportunities with or with stipend.
Placement Experience :
Our university provides placement opportunities for all the university students. There is 100% place in our course. Last year 119 students applied for placement and all of them were placed. The highest package last year in mechanical was 14 lpa and average was 7 lpa. Some of the companies visiting our campus for placements are Google, Microsoft, Tata, Schneider, Maruti, L&T, Reliance and many others.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees for 1 semester is approximately 100000 which makes it 800000 for the entire b.tech course. No other charges are applicable. Many sponsorships are provided in the entire university based on the merit and reservation and also financial condition of the family. The campus provides many internship and placement opportunities. The placement rate in mechanical engineering is 100%.
Campus Life :
The university has a lot of technical as well as non-technical clubs. Each department also has their own clubs and some clubs exists on the university level. Many activities and events are carried out throughout the year. These clubs include activities such as robofests, robowars, poster presentations, mock interviews and group discussion, chats with dignitaries, resin art workshops and other such creative workshops. We also have 5 main technical teams known as Team Stallions, Team Arrow, Team Dyaus, Team AUV and Team Robocon. These teams participate in various competitions across the country as well as outside the country. They mainly focus on aircrafts, drones, all terrain vehicles, formula bharat student vehicles, supra vehicle competition, underwater vehicles, can sized satellites and robotics amd many other SAE events
Hostel Facilities :
I reside in hostel of nirma university, Hostel fees is 145000 per year and it even includes laundry and mess facilities. The laundry facility is provided 3 times a week and the mess facility includes 3 meals a day plus snacks and tea in the evening. The quality of the food in mess is a bit better than any other nearby hostels and PGs, but after a certain period of time you might get bored with the food. The menu changes every 3 weeks, but there are no major changes and mostly it is just shuffled. The room has an attached washroom and attached balcony, also has an AC and geyser which can be used throughout the year without any extra charges. The room also include a personal study table which is large enough for 2 people to study together with a drawer. 2 book shelves per person, a soft board to pin up any posters or notes, a large drawer under the bed, a side table and drawer near the bed and a large wardrobe. There is also a shoe drawer.
Admission :
The eligibility of the course is 12th pass in physics, chemistry and mathematics. I gave JEE exam and took my admission based on the jee rank. The admission process is online and you will find the application form, fees and dates online. No other method of admission exsists. The reservation criteria is also followed as mentioned in the government norms. No other entrance exam or interview is conducted, the admission is purely based on merit system. The exams and assignments are conducted throughout the semester.
Faculty :
The faculties are very approachable and it is very easy to interact with them. All of our faculties are phD and more than qualified in whatever course they are teaching us. Each and every subject has a minimum of 4-5 main faculties and several other assistant faculties. You can approach the faculty even if they do not teach you any subject, for any project and other mentorship.
