My experience

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course requires a strenuous effort from the students as it is a diverse course which widely covers multiple aspects of psychology, history and general affairs as well.

Internships Opportunities :

The college does have a society which helps with internships. However, a majority of students opt for higher studies not jobs. I have not participated in any internship so far.

Placement Experience :

Companies such as Hindustan Unilever are frequent guests to the college. The average package is around 7.5 lakhs per annum and around 75% of students participating in placement activities get placed.

College Events :

Our fest, Harmony, is one of the biggest fest of North Campus with an average footfall of around 15000. Significant support is extended by the college authorities for the organization of the same.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fess is very much affordable. It amounts to nearly Rs. 20000 per year. Students living in hostels have to pay separately for mess and hostel.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I have not been eligible for any scholarship in my college so I do not have much idea about this.

Hostel Facilities :

No, I am not residing in a hostel. The rooms are either single or sharing based on their availability. I do not have much idea regarding the fee structure. I have had the opportunity, though, of eating the hostel food. That day, the food ignited a feeling of repugnance inside me.

Alumni/Alumna :

There is no separate platform for student-alumni interaction. However, alumni can come and visit our college whenever they feel to do so.

Faculty :

The faculty quite experiences over 10 years of teaching experience. My course is such, that the faculty has to be interactive or else they are not justifying the course that they have taken up for themselves. The standard of teaching is quite high, and this is what you expect when you are pursuing your education in a highly reputed college of Delhi University.

Placement Experience:

Sri Venkateswara College provides placements for Science and Commerce Students, not for BA Students. The college has a good record in the placement cell. I am an Arts student so I don't have any placement. So I choose UPSC as my career option. I will try until I succeed.

Placement cells do not provide placements to English graduates. Only a few companies came to hire English graduates. I'm planning to do a master's or B.Ed to secure a career in teaching after my graduation.

6th-semester students are eligible to apply for campus placements. Companies like Bains and Co., KPMG, etc visit our college. Some are known and some unknown. I did not participate in campus placements as I decided to go for higher studies.

Remarks:

The college is good and faculty teacher is very helpful and the canteen is great. The playground is very big and clean. College has many societies. Admission process is merit based and first cum basis.

Admission:

No, because my admission merit based and my performance and sc quota so I can't face any group discussion, interview, or written tests. My result calculation is sufficient to get admission.

Remarks:

The college is excellent when it comes to academic excellence though it lacks a bit in infrastructure and placements.

Admission:

After giving my 12th class board exams I was looking at potential places to do my graduation from and Delhi University and Jamia millia islamia were on the top of my list due to their reputation and excellent national rankings. I ended up choosing jamia because it had the reputation for being very academics oriented and having a sincere student body. The fact that jamia has an entrance exam was also a draw for me as it ensured my peers were selected on the basis of stiff competition ensuring I got the best environment to pursue my academics.Jamia conducts its entrance exam around june-july with admissions taking place in august. The admission process is pretty straightforward and most of the process such as registration and payment of fees is online. The final registration is done in person in the university itself. Original documents such as 10th and 12th marksheets are required as well as character certificate and school leaving certificate. The list of required documents is available on the university website.

Our college has JEET placement Cell. JEET provides weekly updates on new internships. There are too many opportunities. However my course, Psychology doesn't have placement opportunities as such as Psychology is a complex field that has yet to be Specified in Masters.
