True story of Khalsa college

Remarks :

The college is good, infrastructure is good the teachers are very helpful and patient but the administrative office management is average as they are government offices and they don't help too much also there are many facilities in the college that are not words like the water cooler.

Course Curriculum Overview :

From the very beginning, I was pretty sure that I would choose mathematics honors. The course is quite difficult but good also and requires a lot of hard work and full attention. The first semester was a bit lengthy but second was short and easy. In the first year the syllabus is easy as there are total four papers of maths but as you step in 2nd year the course expands and you study mathematics in detail. In 2nd year you get a chance to explore yourself also and can do a research in mathematics topic and this enhances your personality and develops you.

Internships Opportunities :

My course is mathematics Honours and there are no internships available for this course students by the college but yes I have heard that many good companies look for their interns in commerce department so I don't have a much knowledge on it.

Placement Experience :

I honestly think that there are not so many good placements and job opportunities available in the college. There are very few choices only, hence the placements of the college is not at all a good college should work on it and should provide many good job and placement opportunities for the students

College Events :

There are many events celebrated like the seminar, conferences like International Punjabi conference in which former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was chief guest plus there are several events by many societies in the college time to time There are many Nukkad Nataks and plays, singing and dancing competition.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

I think that our college has very expensive fees as compared to other colleges the fees was 21000 in 2017 for admission in mathematics Honours in 1st year which is very large as compared to for example Miranda college which has fee structure of the same course is 12000 rupees so there is a lot of difference and it's very expensive and some students can't afford it it is not feasible, very expensive.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

A college provide scholarship for the students who scored the maximum marks in a particular course in a year for example in mathematics Honours if you scored the highest in the first year you get a scholarship worth rupees 11000 and there are many scholarships available for different courses and there are many scholarships available for economically backward students and disabled ones.

Campus Life :

Basically, Khalsa College is a minority college of Sardaar and you can see 50% of the college is of Sardaar but this is a stereotype only there are many students of other religion also and you don't feel like you are in a minority college at all, the gender ratio is almost the same. Khalsa College is known for sports like cricket basketball also and there is a huge playground available in the Khalsa College which is famous across DU. The debate Society of the college is very good and student get a chance to participate in the debates and win exciting prizes was rupees 3000 to 5000 and so on there are many extracurricular activities going around the college like sinking c, dancing competition, Nukkad Natak and there are all average.

Hostel Facilities :

Honestly, the hostel facilities are not so good and not very bad. The cleanliness in the hostel room is a very good the food of the mess is good, you get healthy food. The rooms are shared by three peoples but there is shortage of water I remember that for three days in the hostel the water was not available so it's very disgusting because you are paying 10,000 and also there are PGS available at the same price and they have good facilities as compared to hostel in the price.

Alumni/Alumna :

On the very first day of our college the seniors came to the class for making us feel comfortable in the college they took our introduction and told about themselves and time to time they helped us very much but at the end of the years you realise that that was only four votes and freshers party you are only their vote bank and a way to get rupees for party in which they also enjoy for free.

Exam Structure :

In first year you will enjoy your college life a lot because the time table is not so hectic and you can prepare for your exams and practical very comfortably and you can deal with it easily but as you step in the second year there are 3 Labs in a week plus 3 maths subjects and a very hectic schedule classes start from 8:30 in the morning and mostly get over at 4:30 p.m. in the evening so the timetable is very very bad and there is very less time available for the students to self-study and prepare for exams and impractical days you will be very tired and exhausted.

Admission :

My admission was based on the cut off marks of DU. I wanted to take Mathematics honours and for this there was requirement of four subject marks that is English plus PCM. I got selected in third cut off. I just then went to the college and submitted all my documents required and hence got admitted in this college in 2017.

Faculty :

The teachers are very good actually and this is a fact I can take guarantee of the maths department that you will never be disappointed. Teachers are very friendly and cool they are very experienced they make proper notes and 90% of the papers come from there. HOD of the maths department is very helpful and kind you will never hesitate in asking even a small problem to her.
