Remarks :
Life at JIMMC is just amazing, you enter the college once and you will start loving the environment & the people around you so much that you won't even realize how fast time travels & you never want to leave this. The food provided in the canteen is just amazing with a numerous variety of dishes being offered.
Entrance Preview :
To take admission for DMC (Diploma in Mass Communication) at JIMMSyou dont have to give any entrance exam, admissions here are purely on the basis of merit list of 10+2 marks that is being declared by the college. Once merit list is declared selected students go through a second round of screening. Final selection is based on the Group Discussion and Personal Interview. I did chose DMC because of my interest & hunger to know more about Media & its working procedures.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course that i chose was perfectly designed keeping in mind the requirements of the industry & to make students stable enough to survive in the corporate world. 50:50 ratio was being followed for Classroom lectures and Practical sessions. Practicals included reporting, scripting, editing along with practice of live shows in the media lab. Print journalism, Advertising & Public Relations were the electives that were being provided by the college.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes the college has a department that looks for helping the students in getting the internship in a company of their choice where they could get to work in the area of their interests. Internships are scheduled at during the summer break at the end of the final year & final semester. The experience for the students was amazing, they were able gain work experience in the area of their interest & get a grass root knowledge of the working procedures in the industry. The average stipend offered was 6000 for a student.
Placement Experience :
Placement at this college is 100%, every student gets a job before he even completes his degree. Prestigious companies like Dainik Jagran, NDTV, India TV, etc visit the campus & recruits students. The average package a student from Jimmc gets is approximately 4 lakhs per annum, highest package offered was 7 lakhs by ABP NEWS.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fees for DMC was quite affordable, it was around 60000 per year which included the charges of using media lab, examination fees & also library membership. Total fees payable to college including the cost of dress & other facilities of wifi, computer labs etc was approx 1.9lakhs. It's value for money because you get a degree of JAGRAN & experience a world class learning.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Yes the college provides scholarships to the meritorious students with consistent performance in their academics. Yes the college helps the students in getting a loan from banks like AXIS, HDFC & ICICI.
Hostel Facilities :
No there are no hostels inside the college campus, but yes you may find a number of PG's & hostels all around the areas near the college. There are separate hostels for boys & girls with single & double occupancy rooms at a nominal cost of 5-6k for a month, this cost also includes the facility of 2 time meal. The food provided was delicious & hygienic.
Exam Structure :
The labs & exams were perfectly scheduled, they were easy going as exams were arranged at the end of each academic year & the course covered in them was more of what you learn in practical than just copying the written text from the books.
Faculty :
The teachers here are amazingly good, they have an experience of more than 10 years of teaching & have many articles & books published on their names. Arvind Mohan &Indu Pandey are the visiting faculty in this college. The teachers in this college are very interactive & are always there to help you & guide you for the best, they help you a lot in grooming your knowledge & personality.
