- Unneccesary courses like foundation programmer, if 2 then its okay but having 4 waste lots of time and student lacks behind in his/her core field
- Fees, I think the current fee structure of enginnering is not worth properly.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum at Ahmedabad University is very diverse, students will get the freedom to take the courses as a part of free electives. Btech students need to complete 146 credits throughout the 4 years. Every semester there will be some core courses that are compulsory to take and others students can choose on their own. There is an 18-credit requirement for GER (General education requirement). More about it is mentioned on the college website in detail. it's basically like a free elective but with some restrictions. students need to take some courses from specific fields compulsory, for ex one from the economics field, one from arts, and one from humanities and language there are 18 credits, 3 for each course so overall 6 courses. Other than that college has this thing called a foundation programme in the first year. every student compulsorily has to take this. It's like 4 different courses each of 1 month. Faculties are experienced but the course curriculum is average.
Internships Opportunities :
College does provide internships. Students of CSE have to take either 2 2-month summer or 6-month summer internship compulsorily as part of academic requirements. Placement cells do help but do not guarantee anything. If a student does not get that he/they have to find it on their own.
Placement Experience :
Placements are average but I would say it's improving year by year. Companies do come on campus. The best companies i witnessed in Trilogy innovation provided 36 LPA but only a few students were able to crack it over some years. other than that there are many start-ups coming on campus. Most of them are local from Ahmedabad. From that, many are very good. Salary range varies from 5 to 12 LPA. In my batch 8 students of 12 LPA packages and others in the range from 6 to 12. But still, the selection is limited, and it's tough to crack. If you prepare well then you will be placed.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For Btech students, I had fees of 1.73 lakhs per year. For new joiners joining now, I think its double and around 3 lakhs per year. They do provide good financial support to those who really need and after submitting proper documents they can avail of need-based scholarships. Also, the batch toppers also awarded additional scholarships. Colleges do have a placement cell, students have to pay for it in order to enroll. Companies do come to campus but usually, startups, some of them are good and some are early-stage starups majorly from Ahmedabad. The average will be around 6 LPA.
Campus Life :
Campus life is one of the key factors of this college. It's one of the best campuses you can find in Gujarat. From Libraries to football grounds, nothing is left. Campus life is pleasant. The campus is open 24/7. There are various clubs, from music to programming to theater, sports, environment, social service, dance, and many more. There are many fests organized every year by different program students. Tech students have Tech Ingenium, Management students have their own Concourse, Ethos, charisma and many more. Many good artists do come at the end for example Samay raina. There many talk event for example Nalanda a version of TED Talk organized frequently. every week there will be some speaker panel discussion and many more regarding various fields. There a Sports Fest which is also a great event organized by sports clubs. AUPL and many more. For infrastructure I would say it's best. the cafeteria is huge, really huge and has all kinds of food. Multiple libraries some of them opens 24/7 too.
Admission :
The college accepts scores of JEE mains as well as ACPC (GUJCET + 12th board marks). usually 50% sets for both quotas. 50% of seats through ACPC are occupied by the state counseling process, and 50% of seats through JEE are done by the college itself, in that, they invite for PI but I don't think it matters much, your JEE score will matter in that case. At my time of admission, the cutoff was around 94 pr in jee mains for open-category males. There is no management quota in college.
