Dislikes

  • I didn't like the ladies hostel at that time. Now it's completely renewed and makes beautiful.
  • I didn't like laboratory facility in MSc Botany class. There is no proper machines or substance here. Government provides a huge amount but the lab assistance didn't give any care to the laboratory items include glass items.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I prefer this course because I want to become a biology teacher. Above 2000 students studying in 21 departments and 100 above teachers are here. Every teacher is well qualified in their subjects. All have completed their post-graduation and Ph.D. in their subjects. Some of them completed their BEd, MPhil, etc. Exams are under the control of Kannur University. Exams are in every six months. The semester system is followed here. Literally, MSc exams are a little difficult.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is no fee for anyone. It's fully under the government, so no fees for students. If any student's parents work in the government sector give a 1500 rupee fee. E Grants, Muslim merit scholarships, Post metric scholarships, etc. are available in this college. It's a general college so there is no campus placement.

Campus Life :

Every year they conduct freshers' parties, farewell parties, college youth festivals, election victory days, etc. There is no tech fest in Brennen College. The library is a large building. Here above 21000 books are available. Lots of publications and magazines are available. Sports Day is conducted every year. They give importance to university-level competitions. NCC and NSS are active on campus. NCC has a special garden in front of the campus. Many club activities are conducted by students and teachers. Like the IT club, Malayalam club, etc.

Admission :

Eligibility for Msc Botany course is complete BSc Botany with 55% or above. We can apply online through the Kannur University allotment website. We get full details about this course. The application fee is 1000 rupees for the general category and 500 for SC/ST/PWD Categories. It's a fully Government college so the reservation process is fully under the control of the University and Government system. It's a perfect admission process. They give more importance to the mark of the main subject.

Placement Experience:

There are departments with placements and university has got a placement cell. There are also various career guidance classes, Innovation and entrepreneurship development centre(IEDC) to support students. But my course is more of a research oriented and as such I can apply for phd opportunities myself. The faculties will help in getting internships, recommendations and journal publications as long as long as we are interested.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Talking about the course, as it is a pg course the main thing is the effort we put in this subject. The teachers has a limit and it is always the effort we put from our side to complete the course. Frankly speaking, the course is a tough one. Syllabus is so long that many things are there to study.

Placement Experience:

A fair placement opportunities are provided by the college. Students are trained form their start of second year to perform well in placement interviews. From the start of 4th semester students are eligible for campus placements. A number of prominent companies (including Nestle, in the case of my course) comes here for campus recruitments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is to be updated. The university provides a weak syllabus and the system of conducting examinations are outdated. Exams are not in time and the results are delayed. Exams are moderate to easy. Sometimes same questions appear. But, course helped me to get a vast knowledge about my subject

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for the placement in their final year of the course. We have BS-MS, MSc, IPhD and PhD currently. Students from BS-MS are more likely to be placed. Though placement is less as students mostly go for research after masters. We have a placement cell that notifies about the opportunities in industries and academia. As my plans are to pursue a PhD after getting this degree so I never got interested in placement opportunity.
