The Journey

Remarks :

Yes, college is good in the city as rest of the institutes are private body and operates like schools.

Entrance Preview :

I wrote MP-PET to enter in this college. After counseling, I was allotted a seat in this college. No there wasn't any Interview Process. My own interest motivated me to join this course.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum was good on a scale of 10 I would give it 8. Practical learning was not that focused on the course but basics were thought practically in each semester. No research initiatives were taken during my coursework. I did it independently. In the last three semester, I was given choices to choose electives. And I chose Unix & Shell programming, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Mobile AdHoc.

Internships Opportunities :

No, college doesn't provide the internship. If a student finds a one by himself they will ask for attendance restraint the student to leave the opportunity. Stipend amount haha, let it be.

Placement Experience :

Placement scenario is poor, limited companies come to the campus and that too CS/IT focused. No mass hiring companies for Civil/Mech. Moreover, branches like Petrochemical don't even have any company since the branch is introduced. 51% or fewer students got placed. Only TCS visit the campus every year and then Capgemini with avg package of 3.2-3.5 lac. only.

College Events :

Well, event organization is growing in the college E-cell organizes the various workshop, Student communities organize cultural-technical fest and sports fest. names are Maha Sangram, Avahaan etc. They are organized at the state level only as they have been introduced recently. Average footfall is again low as the campus is very far from the city and poor logistic facility. College authorities provided small budget and gave their cooperations. At beginner level it was good.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

College is government body so the fee is not much and is very affordable. I have paid fees of nearly Rs.32,000(Including every thing) for a year. Installment method is also available. For students' belonging to SC/ST caste can have scholarship hence they have to pay only bus-fee i.e. Rs.7000. And if you live in the range of 5km of the college then no bus fee is charged. Apart from this around Rs.1350 is charged as exam fees every semester and Rs.112 as portal fees every year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholarship for SC/ST and one for minorities awarded by the central government. University offers VC awards to top students. Since college is self-funded, not many scholarships are available. Nope, I was not. No loan related service.

Campus Life :

Very poor, no respect or heed for your inner talent. Explore yourself cause you are in a depression that you have taken admission at that college. You have to seek and ask them for such things.

Hostel Facilities :

No, UIT is in my hometown only hence I stayed at my home. Hostel rooms are good during my time there were no hostels for bachelor's student but now new hostels are constructed with modern amenities. Rooms are in sharing only. No, they don't have PGs. I don't know about the hostel fees but the food I have tasted once or twice and it's much better than what they offer in private hostels. Of course not home like but it's edible and kitchen hygiene is good too.

Alumni/Alumna :

They are building it since I'm recently graduated I'm not much aware of it. There is a tab for Alumni on portal, but it doesn't work. No contribution of alumni to the college and students till now.

Exam Structure :

Chill culture is followed which I hate actually cause labs are irregular and lab-assistants are not much help. Exams are organized at the end of the semester and some mid-terms with small weightage hence nobody takes it seriously.

Faculty :

Faculties are well qualified at college. Permanent faculties are all Ph.D. holders or working on thesis while temporary faculties are have done their master's and are also working on the thesis. Yet their practical knowledge is nill or very low. Shamed of being taught by them, cause every time I have asked a question or doubt to them and they have find a way to escape.

Placement Experience:

From 4th year onwards. The companies visited till now are ConsultAdd, Decode, Gammastak, Daffodil, TCS Digital, And next is Capgemini and Wipro. The highest package till now is 20 Lpa. And the average is 4. But many of my colleges till now are been placed in TCS Digital with a package of 7.5. 95% of the students from CS, IT are placed every year. By joining the company in which I got placed or if scored good marks in gate then I will continue with my further studies by doing Mtech.

Remarks:

I had a little trouble in my first year when I had to stand in a long line to submit my fees. From 2nd year (2013) onward, the only mode of depositing fees is now restricted to online fee payment which saves a lot of time and brings up more transparency.
