Remarks :
The best part of the college is very cheap photocopy rates and the infrastructure. But the administration staff gets a little rude at times which makes it difficult for the students to interact with them
Entrance Preview :
Common Entrance Test for Bachelors in Elementary Education. I scored a rank of 209 out of 1500 shortlisted students. I chose this college primarily because it was nearest from my place so I don't waste much time travelling.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course structure is what compelled me to do this course. It is a meticulously planned course with amazing research opportunities. We have main subjects, various colloquiums, workshops, physical education, theater, art, internships and almost everything in this course.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, our college provides internship in a government school for 12 weeks. Apart from this, there's also a School Contact Program (10 days of internship in an mcd school) in first year of the course. There is no stipend as it a part of the course and is done in partnership between the schools and college.
Placement Experience :
The placement and job opportunities are fair enough because I believe it depends mostly upon the quality of the child and not the college. Various schools come to our campus but the pay isn't very high. Off campus placements might offer more, but not on campus.
College Events :
Sports Day celebrated in Feb each year is huge. I am yet to attend it. Fests are held just after the sports day and are very crowded. With a large participation, the event turn out if good enough but we never get much sponsors. Then there's an Education Fest which is only for education students. There's also a Farewell, where the prize distribution for previous year position holders is done.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The college is very feasible. My fee is the highest in college and still very cheap. It is 12000 for an year for my course (4 year professional course) and 3000-4000 for other courses. It is very cheap as compared to the fees in my previous college which was in lakhs.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Yes. There's a bunch of scholarships both on need and merit basis. There's also an bank inside the college campus which also provides loan on a fair interest rate.
Campus Life :
Ours is a girls' college but the diversity also is not very high. We see a lot of north-east and south students in other colleges but not in ours. There are a lot of extra-curricular like Theater, Art, Sports etc and our college is seen to be winning at a lot of events. People from diverse political backgrounds come to our college which makes them more accepting and empathetic towards others.
Hostel Facilities :
There is no hostel for girls which is very disappointing. Even if there was a hostel, they don't allow Delhi residents because of university rules. Students coming from outskirts suffer. Canteen food is good but the packaged food is sometimes found to be expired. The food is tasty and fairly priced.
Alumni/Alumna :
I don't know about any official alumni network but seniors are very helpful. There's a group on Facebook for the alumni and current students and teachers which is very active. Everybody posts things like vacancies, new researches, new arenas etc.
Exam Structure :
Exams are not very frequent. But the workshops go on till 5 in the evening which makes it very hectic. Instead of distributing the assignments through out the year, most of the assignments are given in Feb March during the fests, which makes it impossible for us to send in quality assignments.
Admission :
Yes. I got the form from a nearby stationery shop. We sat for the exam and got our ranks based on our marks in about a month. The admission process has a counselling session where you choose a college based on your ranks. And you are directed you respective college staff to complete the admission formalities.
Faculty :
The teachers are highly qualified but some of the senior faculties are very lazy when it comes to teaching. Young teachers are very enthusiastic when it comes to taking classes. They come up with engaging ways to make the lectures interesting but senior teachers take it for granted.
