Remarks :
My University - JNTU College of Engineering, Kakinada was one of the best educational institutions which stands apart from many engineering colleges in our state. Our Management has been very helpful in achieving our goals and showed us a path to build our careers. Thank you JNTU Kakinada. I am indebted to you.
Entrance Preview :
EAMCET - Engineering and Medical Common Entrance Test. Based on the ranks, we were called for a counselling where in I was offered Electrical and Electronics Engineering & Mechanical Engineering. I chose Electrical and Electronics due to the fact that I can explore myself in both the core and the software fields.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum includes very detailed concepts of Electrical Engineering. Electives - Power Systems. HVE First-year focuses on Overall engineering concepts that include - Electrical, Electronics, Physics, Computers, Engineering Drawing, English Language,
Internships Opportunities :
During our college days, I wasn't aware of any kind of internships that were provided. May be there were scholarships for the students who couldn't afford the college fee
Placement Experience :
Our college invites many MNCs like TCS, CTS, Wipro, Juno etc., Minimum package offered was Rs. 3,15,000 and Max of upto 5,00,000. We used to get a chance to appear for regular MNCs and one Dream job MNCs - (Like Oracle, Yahoo). In a class of 50, almost 47 people got placed into various companies that include both software and core companies.
College Events :
IMPULSE - It was a techno fest we organized a technical symposium inviting students from many colleges to publish or present their mini projects or this is they have done. It was one of the most exciting events which gave us an exposure to innovative ideas that are being implemented around the world.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure was Rs. 8000 / year which I felt was very much feasible considering the fact that the private organizations had close to 10 times our University fee. Ours being a government college, a university by itself followed a very feasible fee structure
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I guess there are scholarships provided to the students who couldn't afford the college fee and under particular criteria. I wasn't aware of any loan facility that has been provided by the college to the students.
Campus Life :
Campus life was very exciting - both academically and with respect to the extracurricular activities as well. We have one of the best labs which provide an excellent exposure to the practical concepts. We were always encouraged to participate in number of sports events - Cricket, Shuttle Badminton, Kabaddi, Volleyball, etc.,
Hostel Facilities :
As far as I know, Hostel Facilities are good and hygienic. I was a day-scholar and did not get a chance to stay in hostel. So, I don't consider myself an eligible person to comment on the standards of hostel and mess food. However, having heard from many of my colleagues, I still feel our hostel facilities were one of the best and they strives to provide good facilities within their limitations.
Alumni/Alumna :
I was very fortunate to be part of my university's 60 years celebration that was held in 2007. The support from our Alumni to make it successful was really appreciated. We have an alumni website through which we are always in touch with the events or programs that are being conducted. We always get invites to attend them as well.
Exam Structure :
First year we had a single semester pattern for all the branches. However, the second, third and fourth years had two semester pattern. The semester includes - Internal and External Exams. The Marks from Internal and External exams will be combined for the whole semester
Admission :
After the ranks were declared, we were notified on the date at which we had to attend the counseling. The counseling center had representatives who would display you the available colleges and branches for our ranks on that day. We have to pick the one which best suits our requirement.
Faculty :
Our University has one of the most qualified professors. They were always helpful in guiding us. Never was there a day in my 4 years I felt regretted joining my college or the course that I chose. We had the freedom of choosing our own projects, we were given timely guidance in completing the projects. Every professor in our department completed the course on time and was very helpful
