  • I think the management behavior and handling of issues can be much better than what it is.
  • The financial aid and placement drives need a lot of improvement. Placement cell needs to get in touch with the alumni and get their help for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) because I was highly interested in studying law with management. The course was fairly new when I took admission to it and thus, I wanted to have special skills with my graduation. The faculty: student ratio is roughly 50:1. The faculty are highly qualified and very helpful. The classrooms in the college are equipped with projectors and computers, and the faculties use them daily. The exams were timely but the answer writing pattern is a bit obsolete. Focus on quantity rather than quality is given which in turn decreases the analytical skills of the students.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities were available through a student's contacts and referrals rather than through college. The companies were reputed ones like Bajaj, AMC, etc. However, only a very very few students could get them. Other students had to rely on court internships and other opportunities.

Placement Experience :

Students become eligible for college placements only in the last semester. There is an active placement cell and the college tries to make an impression of good placements, yet the ground results lack. Only a few students get placed and despite high hopes, students take a drop for one or two years just to prepare for placements. The highest package has been 8.1 LPA and the lowest has been around 1.92 LPA, I guess. Yet, the average is low. Only 5% of students get campus placements and the rest land jobs through their efforts and referrals.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees are hiked by at least 7-10% every two years. So, the course fee is hiked three times in five years. All internships, extra courses, etc. are payable. There is a State Govt scholarship available but only for students who belong to M.P. Thus, students from different states are left with no resort. Students can work in the admission cell department part-time for a few months to get some extra cash. The course structure is hectic and students can not work part-time with it.

Campus Life :

Events are conducted once every month. The annual law fest, Lex Bonanza, is one of the main highlights of life at IIL. Induction Exordium is also organized to welcome new students every year. College life is fun, however, attendance at events is mandatory. Sometimes, students need space and may not be available during them, and the college is not cooperative with that. There are lots of books and journals available in the college library. It is also well-equipped with legal databases like SCC and Manupatra which are important for law students. The college campus is not spacious enough for multiple grounds. But, there are some sports facilities available. The college follows a democratic way of life and elections for every society are held in the college. The societies are run by students but have head teachers control over them.

Hostel Facilities :

The rooms were fine. We were given one bed, one single-door almirah, one table, one chair per student, and one AC per room. AC was available only in a few rooms and not all of them and the fees for AC rooms were 30% higher than the normal rooms. The mess was good but, the food quality needs to be improved. The menu has been refined and refreshed many times, yet, the food isn't good enough. Hostels are available for both Boys and Girls and they were pretty affordable. The washrooms were hygienic and we had a common washing machine and induction cooktop on every floor, which was really helpful.

Admission :

There was a separate entrance exam for IIL but I didn't give it. My admission was direct based on my CLAT score. The application forms for the entrance test are available on the college website. The fee for the entrance test is 2000 INR. Application dates are generally updated on the website but the test is normally conducted after the CLAT exam every year. I would wish the admission process to be more transparent and the policies related to fees to be better explained to the parents as well as students.

Other Applied Colleges

National Law University and Judicial Academy - [NLUJAA] | Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Law [BALLB] {Hons.}

Because my parents didn't want me to go that far from home.
