VIIT Pune review

Remarks :

I had a 96.71 percentile in MHTCET and the admission process was through MHTCET counseling only. Our college doesn't accept admissions through the management quota. The admission process was pretty smooth. Just the time given for admission should be increased.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Frankly, it is too easy to pass in an autonomous institute like VIIT. The structure of exams and overall structure is designed in such a way that very less students fail. And even those who fail are given 2 chances to pass by taking reexamine within 14 days. Our structure consists of unit tests and practical work consisting of 20 marks. Assignments and quizzes consist of 20 marks. 1 project per semester per subject consisting of 25 marks. In the semester exam of 30 and end semester exam of 30 marks. This makes the curriculum very simple to pass and not a lot of burden at the end sem exam which usually in other colleges is 50 or 60 marks. Also, end sem exam doesn't consist of topics that are done in insem exam. Unit tests are carried out online after each unit through Google forms so that's not a big deal in that. Also, Assignments are to be uploaded of Google classroom by doing them by own. So you can just copy them from others. In semester exam is a compulsory MCQ based on 15 MCQs for 30 marks.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities are available on campus and off campus as well through professors' contacts. Students start getting internships by the end of 2nd year only. In 4th year an entire semester is dedicated to compulsory internships only. They don't teach you anything but take 10 credits from compulsory internships.

Placement Experience :

Well, my plan is to get a decent job on campus or off campus. Because of a little tough family condition, I'm not going for a master's. But after doing the job sometimes and saving some money my current plan is to pursue MBA because I'm interested in businesses.

Fees and Financial Aid :

To be honest fees are a lot here which is 168k for the open category. Around 1L for EWS or OBC and 26000 for TFWS and 4k for sc St and other reserved categories. Here along with the placements, you will also get exposure to studying abroad a lot. There are a lot of major steps taken to provide students with information about studying abroad. Also, there is a compulsory internship to be done for 6 months in the 4th year. But they provide internships from the 2nd sem of the 2nd year only. All the clubs have a tie-up with some startups to give students internships. Professors are really helpful to students, especially in our department of AI DS.

Campus Life :

To be honest, the college is only 7 acres. We have 3 other colleges like VU and VCACS on the same campus. So campus experience is not so great and specious. The infrastructure is okay. You have many canteens and other hotels and all food place on the campus. Messes are available near the college in ample form. The hostel is outside the college maybe 3km away. And it is too costly. Hence many people tend to live in flats and PGs nearby. Many private hostels are also available cheaply nearby the college. The area in maybe a 2km radius of college is not that great but if you get out of that it is very good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum involves learning high tech technologies like Artifical Intelligence, Data Science, Machine learning, VLSI and Automation. This curriculum builds the skill set of an individual for the contemporary industrial needs. Areas of improvement should be regularly field and industrial visits should be conducted. Frequency of examinations are bi- monthly and difficulty is moderate.
