Remarks :

Admissions are given based on the entrance exam scores. GAT is the admission test that a student must take up. The application process is online and the cutoff is not fixed. It should be 60% above in the GAT Test. Based on the GAT scores scholarships are also awarded.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose the course as I became interested in the course in recent times. And the course also has a wide scope in the future. The faculty-to-student ratio would be about 1:20. All the faculty are very well qualified, and all of them are doctorates doing their research simultaneously. Midterm exams happen once every month and it is moderate-easy.

Internships Opportunities :

The college provides internship opportunities in the 4th semester. An internship/project is mandatory as part of the curriculum. After completion, the student has to present it to to the panel of professors followed by viva.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible to sit for placements from the 3rd semester. Some companies which visit the campus for this course are Nestle, Britannia, Byjus, Upgrade, etc., The highest package offered was 8 LPA and the average package is 3 LPA.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure for the course is 50k per semester. Scholarships are provided to students who have secured good scores in the GAT Entrance exam ranging from 25% to a maximum scholarship of 75%. Campus placements do take place for the course.

Campus Life :

The student life at GITAM University, Vizag is great. There is great exposure to the cultural events that take place here almost twice a year. Apart from this many events take place by the clubs in the college. The annual cultural fest of GITAM is Kalakruti. A wide range of books are available at the library and it is very well equipped. Many clubs and groups are run by student initiatives at GITAM. One can look at the college's website and social media handles for more information.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facilities are very good. All the amenities are available at the hostel. The hostel food is good too. Approximately hostel fees would be about 10k per month including the food. Many students however stay in PGs outside citing the high costs of hostel.

Other Applied Colleges

M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences - [MSRUAS] | Master of Science [M.Sc] (Food Science and Technology)

Very high fees

Placement Experience:

placements are offered here but it is very less in number and the package offered is also vey low. but this is quite normal for any biotechnology students in india as we are still in an initial stages of biological research activities. so some of the options we look for are: 1. Phd abroad 2. Phd in India 3. CSIR NET (jrf/srf) 4. Jobs in pharmaceutical industries. 5. Jobs in research laboratories.

Admission:

For admission, the students have to fill the admission form online through the official college website. The students are then required to give a UUCET-UG or UUCET-PG exam depending on the course selection.

Placement Experience:

Job opportunities, placements and internships provided by our college are all managed by the placement cell which is very active and hard working and can always be contacted by the students to the parents. The jobs provided have job-security as well as high stipend.
