Christ (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus: Honest Review

Remarks :

There are no such eligibility criteria but you have to get a minimum of 50% in your board exams. You will have to register yourselves on the Christ University, Bangalore website by creating a new account. After this, you can apply to the desired courses. The students awaiting results can also apply with their 11th marks. But remember to produce your 12th document at the time of the interview. Applications usually start in the middle of May to June. And the application fees were Rs.1100 at that time, and maybe they have increased them now. And you will have to appear for Christ University Entrance Test which is held in August and based on the scores you will be allotted a campus out of the 6 campuses in India subject to the availability of the course you have applied for on that particular campus.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I had actually applied for a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy and Finance) at the Christ University Central campus, Bangalore. But after the entrance results, I was shifted to the Christ University Pune Campus for Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Analytics). I was a little confused at first but in reality, it is one of the most demanding course and has a bright future in the world of analytics and finance. If you manage to gain a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certificate then no one can stop you from getting a high-paying job in the market. This course offers a wide range of job profiles like financial analyst, risk manager, finance manager, data analyst, data scientist, business analyst, etc., The faculties are well qualified and possess a great knowledge of their respective subjects except some who are somewhat partial. Till our 3rd semester, we gave our exams online so discussing that is of no use. But our 4th semester was offline and the papers were easy and could be passed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Till now there has been a hike in the hostel fees only. There has been a hike of Rs. 5000 for all types of accommodation. I feel that the cost of study is more in this place as our college is situated in Lavasa which is 60kms from Pune. It is very expensive there and you have to have a minimum of Rs. 6000 for your monthly expenses. There are a couple of internship opportunities available on campus. For example, we have a CDL (Centre for Digital Learning) team which has been set up for publishing promo videos, posters, etc., for the events that are conducted. We also have Christ Consulting.

Campus Life :

Recently a fest called 'Festivista' was started wherein students from all the departments will get a chance to showcase their unique talents. It is held department-wise for 2 weeks and it is to be held in the last week of every month. Apart from that on account of "Bhasha Utsav" we have an event called "Ethnic Day" wherein students have to be in the traditional attires that relate them to the states they come from and there's also a DJ night. It is held in the month of May. Also, we have several business fests, in which we have finance event, HR event, Marketing event, best manager event, and, etc., Our library has a wide range of books and journals from which students can issue books of their choice. All the classrooms are air-conditioned and have projectors, whiteboards as well as a chalkboard. We have a sports event called 'Chrispo' wherein all the Christ campuses compete against each other. We have a student council, and various clubs like the marketing club, finance club, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is good. They keep their exams well scheduled. The teachers are average and won't say they are great as they don't put much effort because 90% of classes are empty after the first few weeks. Yes there is no minimum attendance But talking about our English teacher she has a PhD in English and speaks well although out of three math teachers. The exams were moderate as compared to NM mithai and Podar. And it wasn't that difficult to pass. Although the invigilators won't leave the classroom for a single second during exams which would make it difficult for copying.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The internal exams are very important to give and also it is very difficult to pass in internals. In the exam, the supervisors are also 2 in each class and they are also very strict. No student can copy in this college. The faculties are also highly educated and their teaching method is also very good. The college has 2 computer labs also.

The placement is provided at the end of the particular course. At the time of 6th-semester placement, opportunities are provided to the students of our college. The company that has been visited our college was Cipla, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and many more. Almost every year 70% of students get placement from our college.

Placement Experience:

Final year students become eligible for campus placements from semester 5. There are quite a lot of companies that visit. From companies in the Big 4 to Taj, Wipro etc. I did not sit for campus placements so I am not sure about the number of offers made, salary packages and percentage of students getting placed as well. My plan after getting my degree is to pursue Master's in Business Management.

Remarks:

The college timing should be made more consistent. At least a fixed schedule must be set. Especially the duration of lectures, sometimes we have same subject for two consecutive hours which turns out to be too much.
