Govt holkar science college

Remarks :

The Institute 2020 took only 20 students for MSC now they have increased the number of seats. You will be easily eligible for the course if your graduation marks are more than 75% i.e. you would get the college in your 1 st counselling itself as the selection is done on a merit basis and if you secured fewer marks then it totally depends upon the number of seats vacant. Mostly three counselling rounds are conducted to fill the seats. The application form is filled out online 45 days before the start of the counselling process and approximately it takes 1 month for the entire process to get over. After you are allowed to the college, the process of verification of your documents starts. The fee for filing the application form was Rs1000 for general and OBC students. Reservation benefits are given to OBC and SC/ST students. As OBC students get a refund of 5000 per year and for SC/ST there is no fee only 500 rs for the application form taken by them during the registration process.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Biotechnology is a developing field and in the coming future it's use would increase that's why I choose this course. Teachers are highly qualified and they all have ample knowledge about their subjects. Most of them had cleared the NET examination and student: teacher ratio was 3:1. Teaching was mostly conducted through ppt displayed on the projector and sometimes through blackboard. 5 internal tests were conducted and they were of the medium level where marks could be scored easily if you were regular in your classes and out of these 5, top 3 test marks were taken and also for internals marks presentations were a must.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee for the 2-year MSc course was Rs 71000 for the general category and OBC students would get a refund of Rs 5000 per year through scholarship and for ST/SC no fee at all and even reservation students would get stationary and copies for free. A fee hike is not seen on yearly basis.

Campus Life :

The annual fest was conducted in the month of February every year where all streams of students used to participate and gave nice exposure as various activities were performed and the winners were even facilitated with awards and certificate and even exhibition was conducted every year were models of different departments were exhibited. Books of most of the authors could be found in the library some of them you could issue for the week and the rest you could read in the library itself. The classroom is not so good enough as compared to other college classrooms but projector, laboratory are good enough. Various sports are being played in campus and students get to participate in inter-college competitions. NCC training is also being conducted.

Other Applied Colleges

Placement Experience:

There are various companies that come here for placement. Mainly placement for biotechnology students is at biopharma industries and edtech companies. The average package is 10 LPA. But students can also sit for IT companies where the package is 20-30LPA.

Placement Experience:

Every semester the placement is provided to students. Tata Aig offered placement to our batch. The highest package was of 4 to 5lac. 50% of the students in my batch are mostly working according to their preference. I will be giving the NET JRF exams. Students can go into the research field after PG, they can give exams like NET JRF and get a stipend for their research.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for Placements from the 3rd sem of M.Sc. Placement coordinators invite the companies and then interviews are held. Placement for M.Sc. courses is very less as most students opt for a Ph.D.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I did my bachelor's course with biotechnology I choose to continue my masters with it. There are 4 semesters. Faculty members are well-qualified PhD holders with various research papers published. They are supportive and homely environment. They are helpful not only with curriculum but are also motivational. Cce and exams are conducted on time and students are not only assessed on their exam marks but also on basis of other factors like regularity attentiveness etc.

Everything is good except its recognition despite of being such a wonderful college. College management should work on the marketing of this college so as to have more intake from next academic year.
