Remarks :
To take admission in B.Tech. in UIET one needs to get a good percentile i.e. above 85 in JEE Mains(for general category). And the admission is through counselling held by HSTES. Reservation benefits is given to students during the admission process by reducing their cutoff marks. Special benefits are given to female candidates and Kashmiri migrants.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Tthe main purpose of choosing B.Tech. mechanical engineering was that one can study about mechanics of all machines thoroughly. Another benefit is the future scope in this is very vast. The student to teacher ratio is around 80:1 for all the classes of B.Tech. irrespective of branch. The faculty of Mechanical Engineering are highly educated and maximum of them are post graduated. The teaching method of faculty is just great. The examination schedule is strictly followed as written in academic calender. Monthly exams are taken as sessionals and semester exams at the end of semester with medium level of difficulty.
Placement Experience :
The placements for mechanical engineering students is not so good. Students get placements but not in core companies. Around 50-60% of students were placed but most of them in IT companies like WIPRO, TCS and Infosys. The highest package offered was 680000 and the lowest package was 120000.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees for odd semester is Rs. 37500 for all students and for even semester is Rs.33550 excluding some other small expenses. The college provides many scholarships like ONGC scholarship, Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship, OP Jindal scholarship etc. Special concession is given to students having annual income less than Rs.300000.
Campus Life :
The life at campus is just amazing. The annual tech fest Excelsior is held every year in the month of April or May. Many other fests like Hactober, Abhivyakti and Alumni Meet- Milaap are also held every month. The books are available for everyone in the library who holds a library card. The classrooms and labs are tidy and infrastructure is also great. Many other sports events also take place in UIET occasionally.
Hostel Facilities :
The rooms of hostel are above average and are provided with a bed, a table, a chair and an almirah on individual basis. The students of 3rd and 4th year are given individual rooms and students of 1st and 2nd year gets room on sharing of 3 per room. The hostel fees is 13880 for one year excluding mess charges. The quality of food in the mess is good with a variety of food.
