Entrance Preview :
Well I had taken UPSEE ie Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination to get the admission for the undergraduate course in Vishveshwarya Institute Of Engineering & Technology(VIET) (UPTU Code-096). The college was a recommendation from the senior from my school Dr. Virendra Swarup Education Center. There were couple of seniors that gave me the suggestion to take VIET as the preference. Though I haven't studies computers in my life. I opted for Commuter because it seems to be a fascinating stream with unlimited possibilities and a way to make the impact.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Well, I have to appreciate that the Course Curriculum is designed very very well. If you look closly the Curriculum of IIT and UPTU then there will be hardly 10 percent difference as far as CS is concerned. The book that are recommended from the university's end are like bible to the subjects. The Curriculum follows a step by step approach that keeps setting dots each semester and at the ends you have to correlate all these dot to make a line that's distinct your future and make you compitent.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship experience was with a small firm in Kanpur which is my home town. The name of the company is DeminyX Solutions. I had worked on the Logistic Project that maily includes the Payment Gateway and various other administer privilages analysis. It also included testing and some module(Like RFID tracking) mapping to the main website.
Placement Experience :
I would be absolulty honest on this end. The Placement and Job Opportunities are there but these are limited. You only see a very few big brands coming to the campus. Those who are rank holders and hard working grads will definitly get the benifit out of it. The Placement companies include TCS (Day one), HCL, Minda Sparks (Mechanical), PayTm. etc. The placement cell is a very active divison at the campus. They will inform you about the various pool campus placements that happen now and then in NCR.
College Events :
We have our College Fest by the name of Spandan. Spandan is the annual Inter-College fest organized by Vishveshwarya Institution of Engineering & Technology (VIET). It is the most awaited and lively time of the year for the college youth when the realms of formal techniques, culture, art and literature all come together to make it a festival to which every student can identify with.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Unfortunately there are no scholarships as far as I know. The only benefits that the topper enjoy is that they used to get a voucher of 1500/- Rupees from the local store. But the fact was that when they will redeem the voucher the books will cost on MRP which was tragic.
Campus Life :
The Campus life was good but challenging. The college is located in the outskirts of Dadri that location is miles distant form the any big malls or some chilling spots or happening place. To tackle that the Campus has a free Bus Ride Service in the weekends so it was good back then. The Gender ratio was like 80:20 where 80 were boys and 20 were girls. I remember one of main stream batches had only one girl.
Alumni/Alumna :
Well the Alumni Network is very vibrant, broad and robust. These Alumni are the very helful and they are very egar to associate and network with grad and undergrads here. Seniors have a very amicable relation with the juniors. I had a great time with my seniors from the events of paying my canteen bill, to late night doubt clearing sessions, to brainstorming ideas, to interviews last word to give confidence.
