IES MCRC Management Course

Remarks :

50% aggregate is required in the bachelor's degree. Any bachelor's degree works. MHCET is the entrance exam required with a minimum score of 125. The cutoff was 97% last year. Other exams such as GMAT, CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, etc are also accepted. There are no special reservation benefits. Application is to be done using the official website of the college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

IES is a well-known college for management studies in Mumbai and they also provide with industrial visits and role plays as a part of the teaching plans. The teacher student ratio is 16:150. The teachers are professionals from the industry and are best at their subjects making the teaching an engaging and widely application based process instead of only theory knowledge. There are total 6 trimesters in the 2 years and there are 2 exams for each trimester. Exams are very easy because the teachers are really good at explaining concepts and also there are ebooks and other sources to study from during the exam.

Internships Opportunities :

Summer internships are conducted by the college during the break after the first year. 100% students get placed for the summer internships. They are also of the similar sectors like final placement ie for media, IT, FMCG, BSFI, etc and profiles offered are business analysts, HR analyst, consultants, marketing trainee, etc. Projects that are given are to analyse marketing campaign success and assistance in the same, social media management, promotional campaign building, company profiling and valuation, etc. Overall it is a good experience to understand the working of the actual corporate work and apply the theory we learnt in the first year in the summer internship.

Placement Experience :

Many renowned companies such as Deloittee, P&G, ITC, Mondelez, Flipkart, Asian Paints, Hershey's, etc come for the final placements of the second year students. There are more than 160 companies who come for final placements. The average package is 6 lakhs and highest package last year was 10 lakhs. Profiles that were offered were for FMCG, BSFI, Education, Media, IT, etc. Around 90% of students got placed in the final placements due to the proper training provided by the placement cell for the interviews and job roles.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees for two years is 8 lakhs total. There are 15 scholarships available for the course and it is called Merit Scholarship. This leads to a reduction in fees of the first year by almost 1 lakh for top 10 students who have scored more than 90 percentile in CAT or MAT. This continues for the next year if 75% marks are obtained in the first year exams.

Campus Life :

Sadly the pandemic has made us study online and miss out on campus life but the various committees ensure that we still enjoy the process. There are clubs such as CIC, Marketing club, debate club, HR Matrix, finance club, etc. Pratyush is the annual fest of IES MCRC and is exciting for participants as well the audience to showcase talents and compete in events. The library in the campus has all books available but now due to the online mode, we also have access to online e-books for studies as well as other resources which can be used in competitions and general knowledge.

Interview Experience :

MHCET test is the entrance exam. The pattern is the same as other MBA entrance exams - quants, logical reasoning, and verbal. There is no GD conducted for the interview process. Instead, those students who qualify the cutoff marks are sent emails regarding the interview process and slots are provided to them with the date and time. Hence the final selection is based on entrance exams, the performance in the interview, and the overall eligibility and cumulative scores. The fees are then to be paid only then the admission is confirmed. The questions asked in the PI rounds are very basic and generally based on the student's CV such as any job experience, education, interests, projects, achievements, and why they chose to do this course. Along with this, knowledge about the topics in the news is important as they want to know how up-to-date you are about the country and also the globe.

There is a summer internship after the first 3 trimesters where companies come for interviews and roles depend on the company that selects you. It is for 2-3 months usually and is compulsory ie a part of the curriculum to complete to qualify for the degree. Same for final placement, interviews begin after the 4th trimester is done. More than 50 companies came to campus for final placement and highest package given was 11.2 lakhs and average was 8.8 lakhs which depended on the company and the job role. Roles are offered for consulting, IT, media, manufacturing and banking and finance roles of HR Generalist, HR Business Analyst and Talent Acquisition. Companies such as Godrej, IndusInd bank, TCS, Zee, Meru, Capstone, etc were the prominent companies for the final placement. 100% placement was achieved for the HR specialization.
