MBS school of planning and architecture review

Remarks :

I applied only to IP university for architecture. MBS college was one of the colleges in IP university. Min of 80 marks in NATA score was required for getting admitted and the division was 50 per cent for NATA and 50 for CBSE board.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Because I wanted to do something creative mixed with technology I chose architecture. The faculty-student ratio was perfect and the faculty taught really well. The teaching method in architecture is more than textbooks. It's much more practical.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees structure was 1,27,000 per month. Along with that, there is an additional cost for stationery and prints. There is nothing as a placement cell in architecture since you can directly apply to firms by sending your portfolios. The internship is usually paid.

Campus Life :

Architecture is a hectic course because of which there is just one yearly fest. The library is well equipped with books. The classrooms/studios are well ventilated with large drafting tables. There is a NASA (National association for students of architecture) which conducts intercollege architectural competitions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because i like to design and draw stuff. In college they dont really teach stuff going around in the present..More like things practiced in the past...we are doing rock cut architecture in building contestruction..So yes that old. We just have to do our researchs if we want to anything happening. They should teach more new stuff happening around in this field so know more about it which can help us study the markets and how to earn better. And the class timings are way too much like 9 30 am to 5pm is too much for the brain to handle. Also the exam frequency is doable but the question papers shouldnt be so lengthy could be of lesser marks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it is very practical, you don't have to be in class, you can go out, explore and learn. I love to draw and design. The faculty-student ratio is 1:40 Teachers are good and helpful .they all are architects and everyone has a totally different view of your design. There are 2 semesters, so 4 unit tests and 2 yearly exams, the theory exams are fine but the practical ones where you have to present your work in front of a juror are tough. it is not necessary if they'll like your design or not .so they can give you fewer marks.

A good learning environment with a good spacious campus. The people here are very soft spoken so anyone finds it easy to approve the authority. The college is really nice with no ragging which helps others to feel free

Remarks:

Overall, there are lots of negative remarks on SPA DELHI. They do not even provide basic facilities for the fees they take. Even what little facilities that exists are very poorly maintained. The lifts does not work more often than not, the coolers for drinking water are outdated and filters unchanged, fire extinguishers outdated, poor parking facilities, no grounds for sports related activities, no air conditioners in the classroom for the unbearable Delhi heat, very poor provision of funds, non-existent placement cells, and the lists goes on.

Remarks:

Management is quite slow to accommodate new suggestions from students or teachers. The govt. procedures are always time consuming and require constant follow ups like with any established institute. Management is fairly cooperative.

Since college size is not very large, even the management was helpful and friendly. Any management issues were sorted easily with much hassles despite being a govt body.

Entrance Preview:

I chose Architecture over Engineering and other courses because it is more interesting and creative than others.

Placement Experience:

Ninety percent of the students were offered placement from different private companies offering from 25 thousand to 40 thousand.
