Remarks :
I just applied for chm college for my bachelor as it was near to my place of living and even a graded college standing from past 75+ years and to add one more reason, even i passed out my 11-12 from the same colege i had some perks to getting admission in the inhouse quota. There are high admission chances if you avail your seat from the inhouse quota as it's a government college and even in Maharashtra, there are limited seats for the same course. The minimum marks or percentage to be precisely required for the admission for this course is 60% which is now inflated to +/- 70%. Here the admission goes with the merit list and once you are in, you are supposed to clear out your dues on a specific day and hence you book or claim your seat.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Basically, I wanted to pursue medical but due to financial conditions I have to change my tract to life science sources and for me, microbiology is suited me the most, thats how I chose to go with the same. Trust me here the faculty here you get are all Ph.D. in a ratio of 50% males and females. They are all very supportive and guide us all in our ups and downs. The college stand tall for 75 years and hence it goes with its old-school blackboard teaching method and practicals in lab. We almost had around 7-8 hours of college daily as substituted for 4hr lec and 3hrs practicals. The exams were quite competitve and tough, as there are no defined boundaries or depth which you can define to study and put it up on answer sheet which occurred twice a year as in 6 sems for 3 academic years of microbiology
Internships Opportunities :
From sem 2 or the start for the second year, the intership programme or let's say the summer training programme starts, The Department HOD plays a active role for giving us the vital information regarding what to do and from where we should seek a intern. This intern goes for around 7-10k as a stipend intern and again it goes and changes from lab to lab as there are labs without and with stipend. In 2018 we started this project know as Bioentrepreneur wherein we told students to make their very own project idea and we helped them out to sell them to a know company or firm and hence the college motivates entrepreneurship and even brainstorm various ideas regardless of the boundaries.
Placement Experience :
Most placements are given post their masters within the same subject. I just completed my bacleors in Chm so I don't have a clue regarding the placement offer. But upto what i know from my seniors, post masters there is a plan package of around 1.5L annually as a starter but still i cant confirm as the package changes from company to comapany and firm to firm.
Fees and Financial Aid :
As i have mentioned earlier CHM is a government college, hence there is a great pricedrop for the same course in various college under the same board. For instance to compare CHM had around 6k annual fees which stripped down to 3k by the end of 3 years for general quota but for the people with minor class it was around 2oo rs only annualy, though there are even many divisions into sports, military and more. There were even many scholarship programmes which got hand in hand with diffferent NEPTEL and even olympiads. I doubt there were any financial aid upto my knowledge as CHM was already running on nominal fee structure wherein people were paying around 25k for the same knowledge annually. My batch came to an end on 2020 so we didnt got any major campus placements but in all the year round, the HOD played a supportive role in guding us towards different online/offline course and even many intership programmes.
Campus Life :
The annual fest of the college was CHANDI UTSAV and for our depratment it was BMW WEEK and even we are 2-3 major events that we arranged in a year, we call that from our mic-fam fund which we used to charge 100Rs per student and even got from many sponsorships. So mostly this fest starts from around Dec to January post our sem1 as everyone gets the burden off when the exams are over. To talk about the library the entire campus had around 4-5 libraries and even the microbiology department had its very own library beside the microbiology lab which contained hundreds of books and journals to refer to and learn. Chm college is known for its sport in Softball and Handball and represents students at state and national levels. A social club that just got started in 2019 was its very own Rotaract club, in the same year, there were two Rotaract clubs on the same campus that are still running with enthusiasm.
