Remarks :

I had applied to various colleges abroad, but in India, I only applied to CHRIST (Deemed to be University). Although I was accepted into the universities abroad, I could not attend the classes there because of the pandemic. Thankfully, I was accepted into CHRIST as well. The admission process involved an entrance exam (CUET), which was conducted online this year, and an interview conducted by the faculty of the department that you have applied to. The entrance exam was conducted on the Mettl platform and consisted of 4 sections - English, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and the last section included questions related to the field of study. The interview was conducted by faculty members of the Psychology department. The objective of the interview process was primarily to get to know the student better and understand if their values and goals align with that of the university, and if the student would be able to fit in with the institution.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose BSc Psychology (Honours) because I have been interested in the field since the 9th grade and am inclined towards research. I am glad I chose CHRIST because the faculty is very supportive of the student's interests and needs, and the course is research-heavy. The curriculum involves intense exploration of the different fields of psychology, the research methods involved, psychological assessments, and electives courses as well. The faculty is brilliant and accomplished and they are wonderful at imparting the knowledge that they have gained over the years. The exams held at CHRIST can be quite tricky. There are many application questions, which may be a little difficult to answer, but are wonderful for understanding the subject well. Since I started college during the pandemic, I have only experienced the exams online, and so far, it has been just the right amount of tricky and it is clear that the aim of the exams is to test our knowledge and understanding of the concepts taught.

Placement Experience :

Since it is the first time this campus has psychology students, the placement options are not quite clear at the moment. However, through networking and internships, it is possible to get jobs after the completion of the course and continue studying further.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I joined college during the pandemic, and hence there was no fees hike this year. There is an opportunity for a scholarship, although I have not availed of any. The fees may seem a little steep, but when the amenities and facilities provided to us are assessed, it is a fair amount.

Campus Life :

The college conducts one fest after another throughout the year. Fest season at CHRIST is never over. Ranging from intra-campus and intra-department fests to intercollegiate fests, CHRIST has something going on always. There are hundreds of clubs to choose from, and the institution always supports the creation of more. There are many events such as open mics and competitions for the creative expression of oneself. The classrooms are equipped with a projector, a screen, a sound system, and a blackboard. The library is full of informative books and journals, and there are also many online journal subscriptions available for CHRIST students. Apart from the fests, there are sports events like basketball and football matches between departments. The Kengeri Campus has many basketball courts, a football court, volleyball courts, tennis and badminton courts. The campus is lively with an abundance of trees, plants, animals, and even lakes.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel for girls studying BSc Psychology is outside the campus. It is a study house that is run in collaboration with a trust. The hostel allows you to choose between a single, double or triple room. There are common bathrooms for people staying in triple rooms, but double and single rooms come with attached bathrooms. The hostel provides cots and wardrobes, but the students have to bring pretty much everything else. The rooms must be cleaned by the students themselves and there is a curfew. To register for the hostel, you must call ahead, book a room and pay a fully refundable caution deposit. The warden will then reserve a room of your choice for you. The meals are quite good. They are healthy and well-made.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is designed good but the execution is not proper and they are not flexible with anything. They don't properly decide and set the time table. Exams do not have proper gap and it's really stressful.

Placement Experience:

There has been a lot of campus placement since the establishment of this college. Writting a cover letter and a CV for the companies we are intrested in, is a compulsory part of out curriculum. We are also made aware on the various sectors in relationship with our college for internships.

Remarks:

I like the College overall. It is quite fun, though in terms of strictness it feels like I haven’t left school at all. I wish to highlight the attendance issue though, I wish they could just chill. I can barely attend my grandfather’s 80th birthday because of their attendance issues.
