Remarks :
Due to the pandemic, all the college admissions were going online mode. So my college admission was through Mumbai university application in which i had to opt for 10 colleges so in that i had mentioned S.K. Somaiya Degree college and i wanted to join here for BSc CS course. After filling Mumbai university form i went to somaiya portal and filled Bsc CS application form and paid rs. 500/- , and was waiting for the merit list to be announced by the college. In the 1st merit list the cut off was above 75% around so i couldn't get admission in the 1st list and then i waited for the 2nd list to be announced and when the college announced 2nd list the cut off was above 70% around so in that to i couldn't get the admission bad luck then i hoped for the 3rd list to be announced and luckily i got selected in the 3rd merit list with a cutoff of 55% and was very happy that i got admission in my dreamed college. Selected candidates were getting mail by the college and were getting id and password.
Course Curriculum Overview :
So I chose this course because I was vet fascinated by the computer world, to know how everything works how to program, to make the best software, how cyber security works, ethical hacking and so so so on..I was very curious to know this all from my childhood. In my class, the class strength is very high just 1 division and the students are 120 with boys: girl's ratio of 80:40. All the teachers and faculty members are very highly trained and having alot of deep knowledge About the course and subject they teach and it's a 3-year degree course consisting 2 semesters in a very year. The exams are very interesting with proper guidance before attending the exam and to say about the difficulty of exam it depends on the students how much they have given there best for the exam so for the student who had paid attention in lec and had studied very well for him/her exam will be very easy and vice versa.
Internships Opportunities :
For internships companies like Amazon, TCS, Infosys, etc. With having various and numerous job roles like ui ux , web developer , software tester / engineer , etc. The companies gives the internship period of 6-7 months with the stipend of average 10k per month and highest around 20k. All the students makes there best project during placement and Internships to get placed in there dreamed companies.
Placement Experience :
After the 5th semester, all the students are eligible for the placement and Internships provided by the College. Various well known companies comes for the placement cell and picks the students who has not only scored well in his/her exams but also how much interactive they were during interview and how much basic and verious knowledges they have apart from there course. Highest package was 4-5 lakh per annum and average 2.5-3 lakh per annum. The selection of candidates in the placement cell are for all the various job profiles for ex. Software Engineer , ui/ux , Cyber security , web developer / designer and etc etc. In a batch of class around 60-70% students were placed in placement and Internships. I had planned to get the degree in cs and to learn ui ux design and to apply for the intership for 2-3 companies so after that I can apply for the big and famous companies like FAANG.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
So to talk about the fees of my course the 3 years course fees is 3 lakh rupees which mean 1 lakh per annum and the candidates can apply for scholarship and also for the education loan and for the candidates who wants to pay there fees without any loan. For them the college gives 2/3 installment to pay there yearly fees which is best thing about the college. The internship and placement starts at the mid of 3rd year. And various well known companies and mnc's arrives at college campus for intership and placement . Companies like TCS , Infosys , etc . The college also provides student exchange program for the students who are very excellent in there studies during the 3 year of there course so college provides various abroad College and send students of Somaiya to abroad College for studying the course which they are studying at Somaiya.
Campus Life :
The college conducts various tech fest, shoes, the event's throughout the 3 years and tech fest are mostly conducted on Dec. And events are conducted every month to keep the students active all time. It also has a huge library with thousands of books from basic to advanced level which consist of every aspect of the book you need. The classroom is so neat and clean and huge with a big screen to make the session very interactive. Somaiya is very famous for its sports culture which contains every sport you are interested in like reliance on youth football events in which colleges from all over Mumbai participate. The college also has there own website in which every single detail are present about the college, course, event's, etc, etc and all the events are run by students of Somaiya.
