Entrance Preview :

JKCET, I appeared for JKCET-2010 and got selected in ASCOMS Jammu through counselling. I live in Srinagar so it was a tough call to go away from home for studies .

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is based on the MCI guidelines and is at par with various colleges at the state/national level. ASCOMS is known for its awesome teaching faculty and top class academics.

Internships Opportunities :

Our college does provide an internship with a stipend of around 6000/month. The internship schedule is as per the State medical council guidelines. But if you are non-local then its better to do your internship from a hospital close to your home.I did mine from GMC Srinagar.

College Events :

Apart from academics , ASCOMS hosts a number of extracurricular events and programs the prime being the "ARRHYTHMIA" fest. The last one i attended was held in 2014 and was a grand success. Various state and national colleges took part in it and it was an extravagant affair.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Every year 10 students belonging economically weaker households are admitted on the basis of income certificate by the D.C. The college also comes under MOMA scholarship and if needed students can easily get loan from various banks also.

Hostel Facilities :

The college has an in campus separate hostel for both boys and girls with in hostel mess and other eating places like hospital canteen and café. The hostel is well built with spacious airy rooms but the best is the serene and the peaceful surrounding. The hostelers will be given a triple sharing room for ist year and from 2nd year rooms are alloted on twin sharing basis.College hostel is far better and way cheaper than going for P.G with the advantage of being in campus and better environment.

External Expense : Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna :

ASCOMS is known for it academically sound Alumni and ASCOMS passed out doctors are preferred and sought out everywhere. Students from ASCOMS are currently studying , working as well as holding positions of repute in institutions like AIIMS, PGI, SKIMS, GMC Srinagar etc and also internationally in various hospitals of high repute.

Admission :

I appeared for JKCET-2010 and got selected in ASCOMS Jammu through counselling but from 2017 the admissions will be done through NEET. Since I was a non-local so I had to travel some 300 kms from home but once i was at ASCOMS, the administration was very helpful and patient and with the reason I completed all the formalities and admission process in less than a day and was allotted the hostel as soon as classes started.

GMC JAMMU - HONEST AND BRUTAL REVIEW

NMC did many changes in the latest curriculum, inculcating practical values and life experiences needed to know as a clinician more and that too from the start . Biometric attendance ensures fair attendance to all and the need to attend lectures . Exams never end . Medico means to have exams every now and then .

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since the course MBBS was my dream and getting into this prestigious college was very good for me and I can get a chance to serve my society in future, this thing influenced me the most to choose the course. The suggestion for the teaching method is that instead of lectures if SGD (small group discussions) were possible they remain more effective than lectures. If lectures are give the teacher should use a board instead of ppt, this increases the retention of lecture in the class.

The Dream College Where Most Dreams Remain The Dreams

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since doctor is being considered a noble profession and my parents wanted me to become a doctor that is why i chose this. Curriculum prepares us well to be a good doctor with having more practicals than theory but only if the college follows NMC guidelines fairly. I think this ppt should be only used for video purposes whenever demonstrating anything and fir theory there should be chalk and talk method. Usually there are 2 terminal exams and send up and lastly a proff exam . Difficulty level remains high not because of competition but syllabus

GMC SRINAGAR, THE BEST

Course Curriculum Overview:

Mbbs is a very noble degree and I aspired to become a doctor from a very young age. The faculty of the government medical college in Srinagar is highly qualified and excellent at teaching. The teacher-student ratio in every batch is almost 1:15. All the faculty members at least have a masters in their respective subjects and have experience of more than 15 years. The teaching method is presented based on and ensures maximum student participation. In an academic year, 2 terminal examinations are held within the first 8 months and then a send-up exam is taken in the 10th month of the year followed by a prof exam at the end.
