Remarks :
I applied to other Punjab medical colleges. I couldn’t get admission in them coz of little low merit. I applied for the Sikh quota. Admission criteria was atleast 17 years old and atleast 50 percentile marks in neet exam. Admission process was a little hectic. It was summers and they kept us waiting in hot auditorium. They also did an extra Sikh quota checking.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose MBBS because it was my dream to be a doctor. A brief ratio on faculty:student is 1:8. Most of the faculty is qualified from Punjab medical colleges only. And their teaching methods are not upto mark. They just read out the power point presentations that their subordinates or they themselves make for the class. Very rarely a teacher explains the concepts on board. It’s a very passive sort of teaching. Exams have always taken place on term. And it’s of moderate difficulty. 80 percent of questions are from previous while 20 percentage are new questions.
Internships Opportunities :
They provide us with a one-year internship. They pay a very low stipend as compared to the lakhs of fees that they took from us. Projects assigned are not difficult or hectic. so many companies come here to offer us an internship. They r not connected to any foreign colleges for an exchange program.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee hike is 10 percent of what we paid last year. And total cost of studying for 5.5 years is approx 55-60lakh. They don’t provide any sort of scholarship. And they pay a very low stipend in internships.
Campus Life :
Well, the annual fest which is called resonance is conducted every 2nd alternate year and it is conducted in March. Books are available in the library but there are no journals. In classrooms, we have simple amenities which are benches whiteboards. Every year a sports meet is conducted which is one month long. And other poster-making competitions also take place once a year. There is no such social group or website which is run by students.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel rooms are good and are air-conditioned. The cupboards they provide are up to mark. The rooms are clean. Students themselves have to clean the rooms. The meals they provide are also that up to mark. They deliver nutritious food. And they provide breakfast also in the hostel mess fees. We have to pay extra for breakfast. Hostel charges are a little expensive. And the wifi they provide never works. I rented a pg in the new Amritsar colony. It is a safe society and has beautiful homes with children’s parks in every lane.
