Remarks :
Law College Dehradun was recommended to me by one of my friends during the lockdown last year. I got myself enrolled by filling up the admission form. They usually conduct an entrance test but due to lockdown, it was impossible at that time. I compared that collage with other famous ones. I found a difference that Law College Dehradun is providing quality education at low prices as compared to other colleges where children were enjoying a materialistic world. Then I focused on the faculty and found some reviews over the internet where Law College Dehradun was ahead in the race. Some YouTube videos gave me the inner view of the college which is beautiful at the first sight.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Law because my aim is to become a High Court Judge and Dehradun is basically an educational town. Thus, I wanted to study here at Law College Dehradun. I found one thing common in every teacher and that's their a way of solving your doubts is so easy that you won't have a doubt on that topic after leaving the class. The faculty here is highly qualified and friendly, they are simply awesome in their teaching. The faculty: student ratio is 1:25. The term exams were held on time, they were neither early nor late. The first and second seasonals were held online and the end semester paper of 1st semester was taken in writing when the college was reopened in February. The exams were tough for those who didn't study seriously during the classes because in online exams teachers gave those questions which they discussed while solving the doubts.
Internships Opportunities :
There is a WhatsApp group for every batch here. The main purpose of this group is to inform students regarding any upcoming competitions or internship opportunities. The information regarding the internships is shared in the group and after going through the brochure interested students may proceed to participate in the competition or in the internship. Roles offered in the internship differ from course to course and the call for providing the stipend rests in the hands of the firm or corporation providing the internship. Projects include content writing, drafting and briefing of documents, article writing, and other legal works. The work is told in the beginning to the students to maintain clarity on the work to be done.
Placement Experience :
The students from the 9th semester onwards are eligible for the placements. Many law corporates come to Law College Dehradun but there are several law corporates who are regular, some of them are Quizlex, Aventis, and Elevate services who come to Law College Dehradun every year. The offers that they make may differ on a yearly basis. The highest package offered is 4.8 Lakhs and the average package is 3.2 Lakhs and 5 percent of the students get placed every year. This is none of the students got placed due to covid. My plan after getting the degree is to go for litigation. I have many good opportunities here at Law College Dehradun which may help me to become a good lawyer. There is the Moot Court Society which will help me in developing my research as well as it will give me court-like experience.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Law College Dehradun offers a quality education at less fees as compared to other colleges. I found that this college is all about quality. They have a good faculty with 6 to 7 societies which help you to enhance your particular skills. Other colleges that charged almost double fees have less quality than this college.
Campus Life :
The name of the annual fest of Law College Dehradun is Yuwafest which is conducted in the month of April every year. The fest involves plays, dance performances, and other events. There are two libraries one is in Law College Dehradun and one is the Central Library of Uttaranchal University. Both the libraries are having a nice collection of books related to various subjects. Library of Law College Dehradun also has some extra resources related to Law. The classrooms are big and can accommodate 80 students easily. Every classroom is having window and ceiling fans. The campus is having 3 canteens and one stationary shop. Canteens provide good food at affordable prices compared to the market. In our College, we have 2 basketball courts one in the boys' hostel and one in the boys' hostel. Other outdoor sports are cricket, volleyball, and football and indoor games include chess and table tennis. The ground is big with two volleyball courts. The college is having 6 societies which conduct various competitions for students
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel room is big enough depending on the number of people living. There are 4 types of rooms in the hostel 1 seater, 2 seaters, 3 seaters, 4 seaters. The rooms are spacious and all of them have windows. A 1 seater room comes with a bed, a table and chair, a ceiling fan and a window. A 2 seater room comes with two beds, 1 fan, window and 2 pair of table and chair. The same goes with 3 and 4 seaters, a slight difference lies in the number of fans and in the number of tables and chairs. The meal quality of mess is good and the menu is good. We get veg food 5 days and some days we have nonveg food as an option. The taste may not satisfy a person but the food is cooked in a very hygienic way. For registering in the hostel a student firstly needs to ask in the office about the availability and he is required to tell them which room he wants, then they will allot a room that he has asked them. Now go to the Warden to complete the rest of the formalities and it's done.
