Remarks :
Previously tried for Indian maritime University. But later on, the ad for Gujarat Maritime University was mentioned in the newspaper and I saw the website of the same. This university provides an externship to CBS( COPENHAGEN BUSINESS SCHOOL), well that is in the 2nd year, and since I am in the 1st year I can't mention that in that much detail, but this university was set up by the Gujarat maritime board which has all the ports in Gujarat under it, so the placement should be one of the best in the industry. And according to me, if someone is willing to grind in the maritime industry, then life is full of surprises as this industry is full of opportunity as more workforce is required in the same and large volumes of the cargoes are shipped through seas. The teaching staff are well organized and have sound information about the industry and will help the students in the process of learning. They are very much in tune with the system of education and have set up placement cells too.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The university follows a semester-wise year pattern and there is no need for ratification. The teachers are well versed and experienced and they tend to see the student's knowledge of the subjects rather than the bookish knowledge in the answers. The exams are a bit on a medium-difficult side and tend to examine the clear concept of the subjects and on what the current industry requirement is.
Internships Opportunities :
The teachers here try their level best to provide you with a stipend-based internship, but seeing the situation at hand the teachers also may not be in the position to work around the same. But be assured that the teachers and staff are working around the clock so that the students are well placed and there are no compromises in the future of the students.
Placement Experience :
The students become eligible for placement in the 3rd-4th sem and my plans are to take a placement offer in shipping or logistics and supply chain company after completing my degree. I think there will be various companies visiting the campus for employment opportunities but since this is the first batch of MBA IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS I think the opportunities are ample.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For this 2- year residential course, the fee is 5 lakhs that comes to around 1.25 lakh/ semester. according to me, you won't get a better opportunity to do an MBA in the niche field of shipping and logistics. loans are also available and scholarship is also provided for students of financial difficulties. there is an atm at the campus and companies like ldcl, Shreyas shipping Pvt. ltd will come for job placement offers in the future.
Campus Life :
There are social groups but in this covid scenario the groups have been shut for the time being, with a placement cell committee that comprises of teachers and students being run so that there are no opportunities missed by the students of the college for internship and placement, classrooms are fully air-conditioned, e-library access and normal library access is also there. GNLU library provides all the sources for the students.
Hostel Facilities :
I have opted for the hostel as this is a fully residential course and we have to stay in the hostel premises of the college. The area is in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad is near to the city limits, Gift city is nearby and the shopping district is also a stone's throw away. the hostel is also affordable with 11000 charged for a year and mess charges are about 3500 a month. food quality is good. you will get breakfast lunch and dinner on time with occasional festive food also available.
Interview Experience :
Yes, there are interview rounds in the admission process of the university and the admission team is full of experienced persons who have deep knowledge of the industry that they have worked in, so the admission process is a bit of medium difficulty and the college also takes out 2-3 list of students to be admitted.
