Remarks :
The colleges I applied to were basically the colleges affiliated with Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). As Gautam Buddha University is a Government Institution with a very vast campus and developing location of Greater Noida, therefore I chose it over other colleges. I was in a general category so I did not avail any type of Quota. Gautam Buddha University conducts its own entrance test, known as the GPTU every year. The age limit for taking the examination is above 18 years as usual. Regarding the choice of specific branches in Bachelor of Technology, you have to score as good marks as possible. Like for choosing Computer Science and Electronics and Communication, you need to be at the top of the merit lists scoring as maximum marks as possible. My counselling of conducted in the month of July 2019. You need to be present with all the required documents and fees and just follow the procedure that is told to you.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose ECE because I had a keen interest in developing technologies and I wanted to be a significant part of the technology industry. The faculty-student ratio is good in GBU. The faculties here are highly qualified (all PhD holders) with a deep sense of knowledge and learning. All the teachers are highly enthusiastic who try to give their best to the students. The teaching methods are appropriate and up to the mark as the university is equipped with all the required labs and study rooms. The exams are conducted timely in the respective semester with all the rules and regulations. Each semester consists of 2 examinations, mid-sem exams, and the end-sem exams, thus making it to a total of 4 examinations in a year. Regarding the difficulty of the exams, I would rate them as moderately difficult but that absolutely varies from person to person. You can easily pass the examinations if you have all the proper study material and if you attend classes daily with proper attention.
Placement Experience :
The students are eligible for placements from the 7th semester. Gautam Buddha University does not offer very good placements. All the very basic companies visit the campus each year and not very high packages are provided to the students. According to my personal instinct, around 15-20% of students are placed on-campus with an average package of 3 lakh-4 lakh annually. So most students go for off-campus placements and competitive examinations like GATE, CAT, etc. according to their choices.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees structure is as follows- Academic fees- 52000 (for general category) 26000 (for SC,ST,OBC). Hostel fees- 30000 (same for all categories). Mess fees- 35000 (same for all categories). As GBU is a Government institution, there's not a much fees hike every year. It is usually around 4k-5k. All the category students are provided with a scholarship sum of Rs.50,000 every year under the UP Govt. Scholarship Scheme. As I am pursuing my degree, I am not applicable for placements.
Campus Life :
The campus life at GBU is fairly appreciable. The annual fest of GBU is "Abhivyanjana" and the tech fest is "Technovation-GBU" which are conducted in the months of October and February respectively. All the books and journals are available at GBU's library ranging from literature, science, technology, history, etc. All the classrooms are highly equipped with the best facilities including air conditioners, smart classes, projectors, black, and whiteboards both along with proper lighting and seating capacity. Gbuians have a sports fest every year known as the "Shauryoutsav" which is conducted in the month of February. All sorts of extra-curricular activities are present on the campus with all the necessary requirements too like dance, singing, drama, etc. There are various clubs run by the students of GBU including- Dance Club, Music Club, Drama Club, Literary Club, Photography Club, Eco Club etc. All the Gbuians are updated with the daily information on our own student-made apps & websites.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities are extremely good as all the students are provided with single-seated rooms with attached balconies. The rooms are of fairly good sizes and all the basic amenities are provided including bed, almirah, study table, etc. The meal quality is good as compared to other institutions. The menu for the entire week is always predefined and is made by keeping the health of students in mind. The hostels are affordable as they charge (30k+35k) as the total fees in a year. The registration process is also simple as when you have taken admission in the university, you need to report to the hostels and just follow their instructions. Gautam Buddha University is a fully residential university and it is compulsory for every student to reside in hostels only.
