Life at GBU, as a B.Tech Student

Dislikes

  • There is low network availabilty within the classes as there are probably jammers installed near labs. So the Jio sim goes unreachable
  • The washrooms aren't completely hygienic to say for.

Course Curriculum Overview :

My choice wasn't influenced by other factors, I cleared my Jee but was refused to choose college as it was too far, hence this one. The college provides basic core information during the course if one attends the classes regularly. There is 75% mandatory attendance but many still skip classes. The area of improvement would be increased real-world opportunities and hands-on labs. The course isn't that hard to pass if you get your hand around the concepts, but there are subjects like mathematics(particularly MA 301), discrete structure, compiler design that need attention.

Internships Opportunities :

I haven't been very active in college-sponsored internships, but this year we were introduced to Samsung Campus Innovation for AI in the summer internship program and it is now providing internship training.

Placement Experience :

The placement offers are average here from 3-10LPA, but the usual mark reaches 5-8LPA on average. There are companies like HCL, Samsung, and others. Students are eligible for placements from last year and for internships from the pre-final year. But we can also prepare off-campus choices.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I got admitted in B.tech CSE (self-finance)2021 and my fees were as follows- Security deposit- 20,000 Admission + Registration fee- 12,500 (probably) Semester tuition fee- 98,000 (different as per categories) sports and club fee- 1000(one-time) exam-fee (per sem)- 1000 For SC/ST students the Semester tuition fee-50,000 There's been an increment in the fee structure of about 4-5k till then. Admission type- GBU_ET(scholarship) or Direct Admission. I took the second one as it passed the deadline. Scholarship- 1. UP govt scholarship program for low-income families and category students from UP itself. 2. Merit-based scholarship award for each year of 12-15k per course. (The self-finance batch is not eligible for this award.)

Campus Life :

The clubs involve - Drama Club, 3-4 Dance clubs, Music clubs, Drishtikon club, art & craft club etc, I have personally been the lead script writer for drama club for a year or so. We have sports club and activities too. There's a central library with a variety of books and a books bank to issue course books using student id card. The life here is fun with occasional events and functions all around the year

Admission :

I did clear my JEE and was supposed to go to South India, but family declined for safety reasons being a girl and all. This college was recommended by a relative of mine, whose elder child completed his diploma there. The admission process is quite easy. You apply through the portal of GBU, and are added to a group. If you choose the entrance test, then you complete it, else there's direct admission too. Then we have group counselling and orientation programs.

Faculty :

The faculty changes every semester so we have a variety to work with. Each class is divided into groups G1, and G2; hence the teacher-to-student ratio is about 1: 26. Faculties are quite approachable if respected. We can text or call them usually and they reply immediately. Good faculties for me were Shiv Sir(ES 101), Praveen Sir(evolutionary Algorithm), Meenakshi Ma'am(engineering mathematics) and many more There are mid-sem and end-sem exams, and some periodic class tests and vivas/ppts. There might be a few who get back exams every other sem.
