Remarks :

It is a highly reputed college with extremely knowledgeable and dedicated teachers. The students too strive for excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities. The infrastructure of the college, especially the residence(hostel) blocks can certainly be improved. More courses can be introduced. St. Stephen's College is the only college among several colleges to have an artificial climbing wall. Some of the prominent student-run societies that stand out are the Debating Society and the North East Society.

Course Curriculum Overview :

BA Program is an excellent course that gives you the fundamental knowledge of a variety of disciplines like Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, and English. The course is suitable for civil services aspirants, people appearing for other government jobs, aspiring journalists, public policy researchers and even those interested in doing an MBA in marketing or finance. Students from my batch have done internships with companies like JSW(Jindal Steel Works) and CLAWS(Centre for Land Warfare Studies) among other institutions. Students have gone on to join TFI(Teach For India), Gandhi Fellowship, YIF(Young India Fellowship), MBA at Narseemonji, Masters from Sciences Po, etc. Others have joined State Bank of India, Bombay Stock Exchange, PwC, etc.The teacher-student ratio is 1:50 for Political Science and History, 1:30 for Economics, 1:10 for English and Philosophy. Tutorials with teacher-student ratio of 1:10 are held once a week for every subject for clarification of doubts and deeper deliberation on the readings.Passing is not difficult but doing well is important.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible to apply for placements from fifth term onwards. McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, A.T. Kearney, Parthenon-EY and Bain & Company, to name a few, along with companies associated with the banking and financial sector- Morgan Stanley, Nomura, Citibank, American Express and DE Shaw, among others, have been recruiting students from the college for the past five years. The highest pay offered was INR 29 Lacs per annum. The average package is INR 10.19 lacs.Students from courses like Maths, Economics and Physics usually get the highest package, although History and Philosophy students have also secured high packages in the recent past.

College Events :

The annual college fest-Harmony is rather faint. A few highlights of the fest are 47s to fame, Karaoke night, Takeshi's Castle, Gala night/Prom, dance performances by third years. Harmony is usually celebrated in March. There are several other festivals organised by the different college societies.Hiking Club organises their Sport Climbing Competition which sees participation from close to 100 participants every year, including national level and state level climbers. The action-packed event is usually organised the month of January over a long weekend. Apart from this, members of the HIking Club climb regularly at the college wall and climbing gyms in Delhi-NCR. They also go for natural rock climbing, cycling, rafting and treks. In addition to these activities the club also organises film screening and trek-talks.There are more than 30 clubs and societies in college. Some prominent ones are Electronics Society, Shakespeare Society, Hiking Club, Debating Society, Economics Society, Finance and Investment Cell, Civil Services Forum, Leadership Cell.

Campus Life :

The sports ground, facility for badminton, squash, table tennis, gymming, wall climbing, football, basketball, tennis is up to the mark. Facility for volleyball can be significantly improved. Treadmills in the gymnasium are not operational. Most of the area is covered by wi-fi, the library is huge with a massive collection of books on every subject. The equipment in labs is up to the mark. All necessary equipment is functional and is available in sufficient quantity.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements during the final semester of M.Sc Electronics. Companies that visit Jamia are Airtel, TCS, Hitachi, Wipro, AT&T, and Samsung. All students were 100% placed in these big companies. Some who do internships in other companies were offered Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). The highest package offered was around 5 lakhs and the average offered was around 1 lakh. I did get placed in Reliance Jio, however, I wished to study further, therefore I did a few months of work in the company and then dropped to pursue MBA.
