Remarks :
Malankara Catholic College is located at Mariagiri near Kaliyakkavilai in the Kanyakumari district. One of the good colleges in this district with good infrastructure. Friendly staffs. This college has almost 13 departments. M. Phil for English and PhD for Mathematics are also available now. It has well furnished classrooms with two to three ceiling fans in every classroom. Well equipped labs. Our Principal Mr Thambi ThankaKumaran is known for his research scholar in Physics. He suggests and helps both students and staffs in the research field. The college has a library with more than 700. Cultural functions are celebrated and special training for intercollege competitions both in sports and arts. Washrooms are provided separately for boys and girls. There is a canteen and book shop on the college campus. 17 College buses through the district. Hostel facilities are provided for the students from other districts. Hostel food is a little bit bad.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Malankara Catholic College, Mariagiri afflicted with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University provides Courses like BA in English, B. Sc. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology, Bio-Chemistry, Computer Science, BBA, B. Tech, B. Com, MSW, BCA and PG degrees for the above courses. Also provides M. Phil. in English and PhD in Mathematics. The college conducts Internal exams every month and there will be a semester exam every six months provided by the University. Provides training for Cricket, and other sports after 4 p.m by the Physical trainers. The College has a most eligible and friendly faculty, not only encourages learning also encourages extracurricular activities.
Placement Experience :
Malankara Catholic College, Mariagiri also provides Campus interview for all the interested students. Institute of International Auxiliary Language conducts a Campus interview for the final year interested candidates and many of the students are selected by the company. Some of the departments like Chemistry, MSW, BBA, B. Com etc conduct IVs and Seminars. The college also conducts motivational classes for the students. Apart from this, there is not many chances or hopes in providing placements or Jobs for the students by the college.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Malankara Catholic College, Mariagiri provides fees concession to the poor and to the Malankara Syrian catholic students. For UG students the college collects 16,400 per each semester. The fees vary according to the departments due to the lab works and other cases. Driving classes are provided for the students in 3rd UG and 2nd PG. They collect 4000 for two-wheelers driving and 7000 for four-wheelers. The college provides bus facilities all over Kanyakumari district and some parts of Kerala inside Thiruvananthapuram. Bus fees vary according to the areas. I paid a bus fee of 5000 for every semester and in some cases, bus fees arise as 500 per each semester. Bus facilities are poor as more than 100 students on a bus but it only provides 55-60 seats. The College administration doesn't respond to the complains given by the students about the difficulty with the busses. For PG students the fee will be 29,000 per semester and it varies depending on the department.
Campus Life :
Malankara Catholic College, Mariagiri has an eco friendly campus with a good infrastructure. The Campus has a canteen and a stationery shop. The College has a well furnished library with more than 700 books. The Library has books on arts, ethics, literature, etc and newspapers. The College encourages the students to take part in intercollege competitions and it ranks 2nd in intercollege competitions. Separate dance classes are also provided by the faculty during the intercollege competitions. Sports like the shuttle, Cricket, tennis were also trained by the good trainers on the college campus after 3 PM. The college celebrates all cultural programs like Pongal, Onam, Christmas etc. The College conducts Graduation day to honour the student who pass out in the previous year. The college also celebrates Arts day and College day every year.
