Bhavya Thaker's Review On The Oxford College Of Science - [TOCS], Bangalore

Remarks :

The biochemistry department at oxford college of science is one of the best in Bangalore. Highly qualified teachers and innovative teaching methods coupled with well-equipped laboratories made my experience at oxford college a memorable one. HOD ma'am every now and then used to share her experiences and insights of the industry which proved to be very helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Faculty to student ratio is very low promoting communication between students and professors and to create a good learning environment. All the teachers are highly qualified and have years of experience in their respective fields.

Placement Experience :

Most of the eligible students are placed during campus placements in very well-reputed companies and internships are also offered by companies like Biocon to provide a better understanding of the industry.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The value for money and return on investment is quite high, making it one of the best in Bangalore. Yearly fees are quite low with occasional hikes over a couple of years. Scholarships are also provided to deserving students.

Campus Life :

The library at the oxford college of science is equipped with the latest technology computers and online resources. It accommodates thousands of books. Frequent workshops help to apply theoretical knowledge and get a better understanding of the topics. Classrooms are equipped with projectors to encourage innovative teaching.

Interview Experience :

The admission is mostly through Bangalore university counseling, and the students are selected on a merit-based. students can visit the department to get an overview of the admission process. The admin staff is also very cooperative.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of the subject. Mainly I like the subject biotechnology it has many sub-subjects to study. Faculty members are not good but we should adjust. Students are approximately around 60. Faculty member's qualification is good but the way they teach is not proper because sometimes I don't understand the language itself. And there will be sudden tests and internals we won't get proper time to study only.

Literally placements are very bad for Biotechnology. They promise 100% placement but I would completely disagree. Only one company came in for placement only I was was selected. For Biotechnology placement are bad.

The college is a good place , with good ambience and experienced faculties. The only negative about the college is the lacking of a good laboratory ,which is also managed with the guidance of faculty.

Remarks:

All in all Jain University is a great college but the school of graduate studies needs some improvement. Students spend a majority of their time in college and it's sad when that environment is uncomfortable and below a certain standard. The management also need to learn to treat students as adults no matter how ill behaved some might get- and respect their space and behave in a way that shows respect. Watching management course and threaten definatly doesnt help.
