Remarks :
Administration is good for current students. But, its response toward how the research is to be perceived as well as towards maintaining contacts with past students(alumni) is not commendable. I wish college should take some serious action in this regard.
Entrance Preview :
I applied in this college through AIEEE, when i was having my rank under 15000. This was one of the best college in Madhya Pradesh and considering i hail from MP and not scored enough to opt for any NIT. I prefered best in state. This was my choice. Ultimately after almost 8 years of being Alumni of this college, i'm proud of decision.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum was just okay. For the name and fame of the college and being an independent deemed college, the curriculum was much better than common RGPV university, but it still lacks the practicals. The subjects were properly identified , but not ungraded as per the up-gradation in the system. There is nothing like electives, and most of the subject to chose from are fixed. All the branches have almost similar curriculum for first 1 and half year. Rest 2 years was specific branch related course work, which was good, defined, but lacks the required up-gradation in the sense on ongoing world level research. Last one year is for Project, with few courses, but no one(no faculty and student) take this seriously.
Internships Opportunities :
No, college didn't have any specific concept of internship. Though, students are free to apply outside and few of the professors have good enough contacts in nearby research organisations, such as RRCAT (which is DAE's body).
Placement Experience :
Placement is usually focused towards IT companies. Average package was somewhere around 3 lac per annum. Infosys, TCS, cognizant, wipro all IT giants from india and abroad do visit campus. Though few but some other ore computer science companies like Adobe, Microsoft also visit campus a few of the times. Mechanical department have some core companies visiting them with an average package of around 4 lac/annum, companies like Honda, Mahindra, Eicher, are a few of them.
College Events :
There are technical fest and cultural fest. There were two groups in the college. One was Forces and another one was Abacus. All the students choose their respective group based on their mentors. Both the group organize their own technical fests(sometimes combined as well). Besides there 2 different cultural fests organized by groups as well. One i remember was pravidhikta events use to be quite big, and there was live performances by various renowned bands and singers as well every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Feasible and actually cheap. Fees used to be in the order of 33,000/- per semester. But the best part was the support given by university and government for economically backward students. I remember few of the cases, where university staff managed cheap loans for the students who were not capable to pay their own fees. Though the fees was continuously under revision and when i left the first year students at that time was paying around 42000 per semester.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
SBI is within the campus of college, and they provides quick and cheapest loan option for the students. Also, staff is quite cooperative in completing any kind of documentation.
Campus Life :
Overall, gender ratio was not bad in the perspective of engineering college(around 70 :30), with 70% male students. Campus life because of the curriculum as described above was chill. Also, as the college has this quota of 20% for all india students, the students at least in the hostel is from all parts of the country. Infact few of my very good friends are from different states than from MP, whom i met in college. In the name of extracurricular, no one do force, its all by choice. Being a university college, almost everything we can name was available and can be explored. College administration was student friendly, and had no issues with any specific conduct which happen to be amicable in all respect. I couldnt remember any incident within college, which shows any sign of violence with regard to caste, race, religion etc.
Hostel Facilities :
Extremely bad. Hostel was still okay, every room need to be shared by two students usually from same year. So, batchmates stay together. There was one table, a chair, one almirah in the room was each student. The common room had a TV, small gymnesium (quality instruments though), Table tennis. Hostel, issues common sports equipments. There was a small canteen within hostel premises(which provides tea and light snacks). But, the mess was actually a mess in itself. It was horrible, the food was cheap, but bad. I was paying 550 rs per month, for the food, which i keep on avoiding till there is not other option of food available around.
Alumni/Alumna :
I myself is a part of college alumni network, which is not that well maintained though. There is not even one side communication. I dont recall anyone working towards maintaining such kind of network. Connecting with present students, old or new faculties, and even with administrative bodies is not that straight forward. Even while we were in college, our only direct contact was the seniors whom we met personally while they were passing out.
Exam Structure :
Exams structures was not at all hectic, we used to have exams every month which we call term exams(usually two in a semester). These were weighed around 20% for the semester, labs are subject specific and the attendance and lab viva(oral exam), comprise of atleast 20% marks for the subject. Final Exam have the weightage of 50%. 10% is in the hand of the prof. and usually accounts for attendance and attentiveness in the class.
Admission :
Admission process was simple. I didn't scored well in State PET(pre engineering test) and my only option to apply to different state colleges was through AIEEE. The notification of 20% Quota seats(All India Quota seats thorugh AIEEE) was released and i applied into it. There was a centralized counselling which took place in Bhopal in RGPV university. The process was straight forward and well managed. The list of college eligible under this counselling was released and i was supposed to fill my preference. Based on my rank i was alloted DAVV(I.E.T) and branch as Instrumentation.
Faculty :
Its quite contrasting, few of them were extremely good, while many of them were not good at all. The reason is the experience. Few of the faculties are doctorates from reputed world level universities, but because of faculty crunch, recently DAV started recruiting fresh college pass outs as faculties. This led to a bad mix of inexperienced and experienced teachers.
