N C college of engineering, Panipat review

Remarks :

The only bad remark I must say is that they have not refunded our security amount which was 6000 INR. No student of our batch has got yet. Around a decade back, this college was considered the best in Haryana after elite NIT and YMCA University. After, 2015 the college lost its sheen due to low admission and less placements. So, they have opened a medical college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The best thing about this college is that it is autonomous i. e. it can amend the syllabus at regular intervals according to dynamic needs of industries. Taking into account all the college's of Kurukshetra University, the passing percentage is highest and result is declared within 2 months of each semester. The practical labs as well as library are well equipped. Most of the faculties are either alumni of this college or pursuing masters. There were couple of industrial visits to Gurgaon i. e. NIIT technologies and Netsmartz. Moreover, in-house training on Software Testing was organised by Infosys and JAVA technology by DUCAT.

Placement Experience :

In 2016, Infosys, Genpact and Netsmartz visited our campus. The eligibility criteria for Infosys was 60% in 10th 12th class with no active backlog in B. tech. The selection procedure was as follows: Computer based examination (quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability and English language of secondary level). Personal Interview (technical + general). Yes, our institute provided free training a fortnight before the CBT.

College Events :

The cultural event known as 'Synergy' is held annually which is 2-3 days event. Moreover, renowned artists are also invited by the college management. In 2014, Sharry Mann (Punjabi Singer) and in 2015, Jazzy B ( Punjabi Singer) performed in our college. The cost was borne by college students as well as by the management.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

My fee was 1, 10, 000 INR annually. Mode of payments accepted by the college was cash, cheque, DD etc. No, there were no additional charges that had to be paid in order to secure admission. I applied for college transport in 1st year which was Rs. 17, 000 per semester. From 2nd Year I started commuting on State transport. Yes, The college provided transparency in fee breakdown.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes, I availed educational loan from Punjab National Bank in 2015. Scholarship were offered to Backward class students upto 70%.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio was low. In our batch gender ratio was 1:10 i. e. 1 female per 10 male. Hostel parties were held through informal permission of hostel warden. Most of the students were from Haryana only. About 75% students belonged to jaat community. There was no Discrimination related to race, ethnicity, religion, economic status etc.

Hostel Facilities :

No. I was a day scholar as my home was 55 KM away. I commuted daily. I spent 3 hours travelling daily. Most of the students in my batch were from nearby districts like Panipat, Rohtak, Jind etc. 2-3 students belonged to Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar. The hostel food mess didn't adhere to safety and basic hygiene. Most of the students took rooms outside the college premises either in Israna sub division or Panipat district.

Alumni/Alumna :

Our college conducted an Alumni meet in which veteran alumnus were invited. We interact with them and they guided us well through their extensive industrial experience. Also our relationship with senior and junior batch students were cordial.

Admission :

I was interested in information technology. So, I chose B. tech Computer Science. I wanted a decent college near my hometown. So, there were 2-3 college near my hometown. For JMIT Yamunnanagar I was not eligible as the admission was based on JEE Mains exam score. PIET and NC college were equally good at that time but now in 2020 PIET has an upper hand. Moreover, I knew 3 faculties personally. So, I choose NC College of Engineering. My admission was initiated through a mechanical engineering faculty who was a good friend of my father. They gave me fee structure and my father deposited the 1st semester fee.

Faculty :

There were 50+ subjects. Most of the faculties are GATE qualified or pursuing M.Tech. HODs are mostly PHD and have a good academic record. The average age of lecturer was 30 years. While HODs were aged from 40-60 years. Mostly of the lectures were alumni. They didn't held any Technical teaching specific certificate.

Placement Experience:

The companies start to visit the campus to place students in 7th and 8th semesters. Almost all the sincere students get a decent fresher job. Students decide from the multiple MNC's that visit the institute every year. Infosys, Daffodil, and Naggaro are some which constantly conduct placement drives. Many students crack government exams thanks to the world-class library and many also crack off-campus offers. In a nutshell, the institute's placement cell in the leadership of Training and Placement Officer Mr.Arun Hooda who himself is an alumnus of the institute has something to offer to every candidate.I plan to either go for a government job or crack a good placement offer , But currently being a sophomore i am not focusing so much on my plans after i get a degree.
