K.J. Somaiya School of Arts and commerce

Remarks :

I was a student of KJ Somaiya College of Arts & Commerce. College is autonomus now and the exams paper are set by college & not university. Faculty is good. Campus is excellent. Once you leave the college, you will miss everything from lectures, 4 ways, maggi house, management canteen, IV etc. Management students do have placements in good companies. (BMS, BBI, BFM, BAF) So, in short it is a good college with decent students & faculty. #Somaiyan

Course Curriculum Overview :

It is excellent and effective over there. Perhaps the most important function of education is socialization. If children are to learn the norms, values, and skills they need to function in society, then education is a primary vehicle for such learning. . For a society to work, functionalists say, people must subscribe to a common set of beliefs and values.

Placement Experience :

Well, I opted for Bachelor in Commerce and so there is no such placements for the said course. Although, MBA students do have placements facility. And I have no clue about the companies for their placements.

College Events :

Every activity, kite festival, garba night, college fest like Hooner. These multiple cultural events, technical fests, celebrity performances, competitions, partying with friends make you confident and job ready. Support from College. .Form the TEAM – the fest organizing committee. .Assign Team Responsibilities and take decisions. .Decide on theme and fest activities. .Budgeting and Logistics. .Work on a strong marketing strategy. .Post-event activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It is quite feasible for the students. Get a breakdown of college fees and living costs at Somaiya universities on its official website or contact them on their official mail ID for more precise info. universities have a more diverse student population (both from different states .

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No I did had any need of it. To apply for the loan, one must be an Indian citizen, having secured an admission into a college/university recognised by a competent authority in India or abroad. The applicant must have completed his higher secondary level schooling. Some banks offer the loan even before one has secured admission into the university

Campus Life :

Somaiya University is an educational campus located in the Vidyavihar suburb of Mumbai. It is the second largest campus in Mumbai, superseded only by the Powai campus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB). It is approximately of 60 acres (24 ha). It has 6 canteens within its campus and etc.

Hostel Facilities :

No, I did not. Hostel Facilities - There is two hostel one is Polytechnic Hostel and the other is Management Hostel. Both the Hostel is good. And the room and mess food is also good. And Polytechnic fees is 102900 and Management Hostel fees is 193000.

Alumni/Alumna :

Over the last 58 years Somaiya Vidyavihar has a well-earned reputation as “institution of opportunity”. Our college is dedicated to ensuring that each students reunite time to time and get an opportunity to relive in flashback of their time in college. Every year alumini committee conducts reunion of the passed out students to honour their time in college.

Via merit list. Being admitted to college is a great achievement in the life of a student. provide the reference form at least one month before the due date, then there is a submission process, wherein you have get all the relevant documents, DD, verification of documents is next. Then cash counter and fee receipt. They ID line.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is good. They keep their exams well scheduled. The teachers are average and won't say they are great as they don't put much effort because 90% of classes are empty after the first few weeks. Yes there is no minimum attendance But talking about our English teacher she has a PhD in English and speaks well although out of three math teachers. The exams were moderate as compared to NM mithai and Podar. And it wasn't that difficult to pass. Although the invigilators won't leave the classroom for a single second during exams which would make it difficult for copying.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The internal exams are very important to give and also it is very difficult to pass in internals. In the exam, the supervisors are also 2 in each class and they are also very strict. No student can copy in this college. The faculties are also highly educated and their teaching method is also very good. The college has 2 computer labs also.

Placement Experience:

The placement is provided at the end of the particular course. At the time of 6th-semester placement, opportunities are provided to the students of our college. The company that has been visited our college was Cipla, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and many more. Almost every year 70% of students get placement from our college.

The college has good opportunities for the student's placement cell which objects to prepare students for difficulties. Some of the companies that visited the campus for placements are HDFC Bank Aditya Birla capital. 42 to 60% of students got placements in campus placement. My plan degree is to pursue MBA from SP Jain College.

Placement Experience:

Final year students become eligible for campus placements from semester 5. There are quite a lot of companies that visit. From companies in the Big 4 to Taj, Wipro etc. I did not sit for campus placements so I am not sure about the number of offers made, salary packages and percentage of students getting placed as well. My plan after getting my degree is to pursue Master's in Business Management.

Remarks:

The college timing should be made more consistent. At least a fixed schedule must be set. Especially the duration of lectures, sometimes we have same subject for two consecutive hours which turns out to be too much.
