Remarks :
The college management and staff were supportive. Offered a homely protective and secure environment with great cleanliness and respect. Overall a great experience.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The Course curriculum is both research driven, relevant and knowledgable. My course did groom me to a certain extender for the job I applied for. There were industrial visits to milk and snacking factories. The subjects included in my course were Nutrition through Life Cycle, Food processing and preservation, Food science, MBA studies, Research and Statistics, Food Product Development, Quality Control and Assurance.
Placement Experience :
Multiple companies visited our campus. Renowned companies like Mota Chips, Raw Pressery,Hexagon nutrition and Equinox Labs visited our campus for placements. Our institute had alumni students and special tie ups with these institutes.
College Events :
The cultural events held for Masters students were rather limited since majority of our time was spent on academic product learning and skill development. We did have one external practical which included gaining experience with a real existing industry with New Product Development. Post developing a new product we were made to visit industries speak to experts and encourage them to introduce our products on their shelf space.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
It’s mediocre. Roughly 40,000 per year. It various from the background one hails from. Overall the fees appear affordable. Although it all comes down to what one makes out of these academic learnings acquired in 2 years of the course studies. Transparency in the fee structure and it’s break up to a certain extent was provided.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I haven’t opted for one so far but have always been included towards it while applying for colleges abroad.
Campus Life :
They were not the best but could be better and encourage more student participation. Some activities were held where in a 2 hour long session fun activities like Zumba, Capioera, and Dance were taught. Sports was also played to a certain extent. We had a common room in college where a table tennis board and carrom board at our disposal allowed us to play those too.
Hostel Facilities :
I resided within a 10 k radius from the college and didn’t require a hostel or PG facility. Opting for a hostel was hence not required with a fortune condition of residing rather closer to campus. However public transportation like Mumbai Local Trains were availed with the college being located at walking distance from the train station.
Alumni/Alumna :
Interactions have been insightful. I got clarity on the do’s and don’ts when it came to studying multiple course materials and applying as well as choosing jobs wisely.
Admission :
I applied for Msc in Food Processing and Preservation. There were only 20 seats. However since my Bachelors studies background matched the eligibility criteria along with scores above 60 % I managed securing a seat. Also the year I applied entrance exams were not conducted since our exam results were delayed which caused the term to commence later than usual.
Faculty :
A general day looked like 9 am to 5 pm for college every Monday to Saturday. With evenings allocated to practical’s conducted in college itself. We also had lectures that were conducted by external faculties and we had to travel across to other colleges for these lectures. The subjects such as food science, quality control and nutrition through life cycle were relevant to the food industry. Besides regular college, I also did enroll for sensory evaluation and HACCP - Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points courses which helped me better my industrial required skill sets.
